The 5.0 Return of Seismic 2022

It was only a week ago that Seismic introduced their world-class artist lineup — a lineup with the most celebrated names in the house, techno, and electronic music scene. From November 11th to the 13th, Seismic’s three indoor and outdoor stages: Volcano, Tsunami, and Frequency encapsulated the Texas region with distinctively curated production and sound elements.

Of course, Texas is all about “go big, or go home”, and Seismic truly represented their brand with the festival taking place at The Concourse Project — a seven-acre venue run by the RealMusic Events team. Go big indeed, because the venue was recently nominated by DJ Mag as part of their Best of North America 2022 awards, and was categorically recognized as being one of the “Best Large Clubs” by DJ Mag.

David Geil Is Always Learning Through Techno

Stage-named artist David Geil (aka Davide Ubaldi) is an Italian DJ and record producer. At just 11 years old, David began cultivating his passion for creating music, and in 2018  he began attending a DJ course at the music establishment Goody Music for DJs — this also led him to begin performing at private parties and late-night gigs. Continuing his music education journey, in 2019 he attended the Rain of Sound DJ Academy, and it was here where his musical technique was perfected. The same year he attended Rain of Sound DJ Academy, in April he participated and won 3rd place at DJ Battle which was also hosted by Pioneer. From participating in the European music contest Tour Music Fest, studying piano, and continuing his artistic career at the AFTEREGO studios to learn more about production and management, it’s clear that David’s passion for music transcends beyond creating it but learning it authentically and educationally.

From performing at the 2021 Beachland Festival in Kenya, Ibiza’s Gardene Festival in Bora Bora (2022), and producing new tracks on labels such as Klap Music, Pure Enjoyment, Monkey Stereo, and Discord’s Music, it’s apparent that the young artist’s talent is not being unrecognized.

State of Flow: D-Unity

“Flow” is a scientifically recognized state of mind where a person is completely focused and immersed in what they’re doing- All time seems to stop, the whole world seems to disappear, and the person is performing and creating at their peak levels. Top performance athletes, engineers, and especially your favorite music artists all try to do whatever they can to achieve the State of Flow. Although everyone has their own method to achieve “flow”, factors such as creative workspaces, learning beyond their craft, physical/mental well-being, feedback/self-evaluation on work, and resting time- help all artists create their best work.

As a self-taught artist, D-Unity‘s journey has always centered around creating quality music that is extensive and long-lasting. His “quality over quantity” mindset has led him towards becoming one of the world’s most prolific and acclaimed producers within the scene of electronic dance music. As of late, he is proud to present his upcoming 4-track EP Every Little Problem from Christian Smith‘s acclaimed label Tronic. This production is tight with quality elements, with each track featuring heavy tribal drums and powerfully uplifting vocals from the Colombian rising star Juli Aristy. This energetic and tribal groover EP is now available for pre-order and will release fully on November 18th, 2022.

Doctors On Decks

Music is the Medicine with Doctors On Decks

Doctors On Decks have released their first studio-album and prominent names from different genres are involved: Chris #2 from Anti-Flag, Anna Heimrath, Nhoah and Tube & Berger.

Two EPs have already been released, the singles “Now” and “The Fog” have been heard in charts, clubs, events, and radio stations worldwide. THE MINUS is a concept album in the tradition of Pink Floyd‘s “The Wall”. Not only musical parallels suggest themselves, also in terms of content it is a critique of the world we live in today.

The album is based on a sci-fi story about a mysterious black hole in the middle of a megacity – and its effects on society. It is an epic tale of being human on the crossroads of change. It takes a look at what constitutes being human, the fight for it and what developments may look like. Great philosophical and timeless themes packed into a microcosm of four ruling companies. Currently relevant topics of our time now thought a little further into the future. There are allegories, symbols and metaphors about the pandemic, refugees, increasing social injustice, powerful corporations, and the glorification of CEOs like Elon Musk or Steve Jobs.

The track “NOW”, for example, is a statement about capitalism and the epidemic spread of pharmaceutical drug abuse. But of course, hope and salvation can’t be missing. “The Fog” and “Rules & Rebels” (with singer Anna Heimrath) tell love stories, “The Rats” is a co-production with singer Chris #2 from the punk band Anti-Flag in which the revolution that our world so desperately needs is instigated. The mesmerizing falsetto vocals of Severin Su run like a thread through the album, and it becomes a driving, melodic techno opera with influences of art-rock, punk, pop, and classical music.

easy life

How the Easy Life Can Destroy You

There’s a post I saw this week that really struck me and it goes like this:

“Strangely, life gets harder when you try to make it easy.

Exercising might be hard, but never moving makes life harder.

Uncomfortable conversations are hard, but avoiding every conflict is harder.

Mastering your craft is hard, but not having no skills is harder.

Easy has a cost.”

For some reason, I couldn’t help but think about all of the times in my life when I opted for the easier way out, the path that avoids conflict, challenge, and hardship while only gearing myself to comfort and easy times.

As a high-school student, I cheated my entire way to get by, and that easiness brought me the hard reality that no university had offered me admission even though I applied to a lot of places. The easy path didn’t help me prepare for that moment when it counted.
