UMEK is back on his label 1605 with another bone-rattling techno release that reminds us why he is one of techno’s most respected producers. This time he is teaming up with Matteo Vitanza who is a young producer that has made waves with releases on labels like Codex and Respekt.

Quadrophonia is a Dutch/Belgian duo of rave artists who in the early 90s dominated dance floors across the world. In 1991, the duo released the self-titled track “Quadrophonia” which became one of their seminal pieces of music that played a role in inspiring the next generation of electronic music makers.
One such artist inspired by that track was UMEK, who today, is an iconic DJ and producer at the forefront of the world’s techno scene; however, back then he was a youngster getting his first taste of electronic sounds. Fast forward three decades later, UMEK is about to celebrate his 30th-anniversary releasing music. He has also decided to remix the track that first inspired him, which is Quadrophonia’s track “Quadrophonia”.

NoNameLeft are a Hungarian duo that have been simmering for a while with releases on the likes of Mark Reeve’s SubVision, The YellowHeads’ Reload and Lampé’s Alula Tunes, but it looks like they are starting to reach boiling point with a debut on UMEK’s 1605 that’s too hot to handle.
1605 is the record label of Slovenian techno artist UMEK, and the imprint’s latest release is a new EP from the owner himself. Both tracks are peak time techno that ooze energy to whip the dance floor into a frenzy. Along with UMEK’s own music, 1605 has built up a roster of artists including up-and-coming talent such as Mhi iri, but it also champions the music of established names such as Space 92, Cosmic Boys, The YellowHeads, and Teenage Mutants.
UMEK has made 1605 a regular output for his own tracks, which in the past, he had also been featured on the likes of Christian Smith’s Tronic and Reinier Zonneveld’s Filth On Acid.
