#TBT: Watch Nastia Spin Vinyl For Her Daughter’s ‘Bring Your Parent To School’ Day

Nastia

“Bring Your Parent To School Day” has been one of the most popular extra-curricular activities in school’s calendar for decades, an occasion for children to bring a member of their family to school to interact with the rest of their classmates and usually talk about their life and chosen profession.

But what happens when your mother or father is a globe-trotting international DJ? Uli is a third grader and daughter of Nastia, one of Ukraine’s most famous dance music artists. A few years ago Nastia  visited Uli’s classroom for “Bring Your Parent To School Day,” bringing her equipment with her for a live vinyl DJ set and talk about the subject of DJing and electronic music.

The artist shared the experience on her Facebook page complete with a video documenting the event. She stated, “I was not lazy to bring a part of my home studio to the school and talk about DJing. I have explained to the children what is DJing about, who is a DJ, how equipment works and what is the meaning in playing electronic music from vinyls. It was cool to introduce them to the esthetics of wax and give them a try to touch and control my setup. That was so much happy time, emotional and inspiring moments. I will never ever forget this experience and I am very much grateful for our teacher Neonila for an opportunity to talk to the young listeners and maybe dance music lovers or even professional musicians/DJ’s in the future.”
