For Ellen Allien, Music Is Her Elixir

Within the techno community there is no doubt that Ellen Allien is one of the most respected djs, producers and label owners out there. Ellen is your favorite DJ’s favorite DJ; the influence to many artists that we look up to today. Her widely successful label Bpitch Control has been a techno taste maker since its inception in 1999. More recently through her Bpitch imprint, Ellen has released part 4-6 of her We Are Not Alone VA- a 36 track compilation of high quality techno that you expect from the label and the artist’s she picks. From having residencies across the world to being one of Berlins biggest acts, she has cemented her presence in the techno realm and is nothing short of legend status.

Dax J Has Nothing Further to Prove

Since the 90s, young, impressionable Brits far and wide have been inspired by the burgeoning underground scene of the U.K. where garage, DnB, jungle and more reign supreme. While he has since largely deviated from those sounds, the indelible Dax J is no stranger to returning to his roots. Despite being one of the most sought-after names in techno these days, Dax can still surprise crowds, as he did with his 19-track compilation Soul Enforcer LP to benefit the ongoing Ukrainian crisis. There is no doubt that Dax J, born Dax Heddon, has built one of the most dedicated fan bases in all of modern-day techno. His roots run deep; Dax began DJing on pirate radio stations and going crate-digging every week in his hometown. Over a decade later, and he’s headlining a jet setting performer, curating his own Monnom Black label party in collaboration with notorious underground Dutch promoters Reaktor at Amsterdam Dance Event.

Slow Motion Gets Candid About Collab with Victor Lou & 2022 Goals

“I started taking on the perspective of ‘this is my art that I’m sharing’ vs. ‘I hope people like this,'” says J. Worra (real name Jamie Sitter). When it comes to the music industry, it takes a strong mindset. “I remember I was typing out a tweet and it said ‘Can’t wait for this next release. I hope you guys like it,’” she goes onto explain. “In my mind, I was like ‘Why am I saying I hope you guys like my art? I should be saying ‘Enjoy this. It’s a piece of me.” This shift in mindset has allowed J. Worra to give space in her music for creativity to flow and has helped her in viewing life differently during the pandemic.

DJ, Producer and writer Thommy Davis has been contributing to the House Music scene for more than 40 years. Boasting a huge musical portfolio, Thommy Davis is highly regarded amongst peers and fans alike as one of the founding fathers of the Baltimore House family.

Many know Thommy Davis for his collaborations with Teddy Douglas and Jay Steinhour as the Basement Boys since the late 80’s releasing hits with Ultra Nate and Crystal Waters. He has had a working relationship with DJ Spen for many years and together launched the successful Quantize Recordings and Unquantize labels.
