Goldenvoice: 1960’s Rock Show, Coachella-Style

720x405-crazy-split

Goldenvoice, the mega-brand responsible for, among others, the iconic Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, has just dropped a major announcement. From October 7-9 this year, Goldenvoice will be hosting a three-night concert at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, California. with an unbelievable lineup: the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, the Who, and Roger Waters (of Pink Floyd fame). This will be the first time that these six artists, all inductees of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, have shared a bill. All of these artists were enormously influential in the development of pop and rock music through the 60’s and 70’s, and this festival provides a perfect opportunity to acknowledge and honor their contributions to both British, American, and global musical traditions.

Is The Coachella Family Invading The Rose Bowl?

Miami Music Week has come and gone, and Coachella is next on the list, boasting an incredible (as always) lineup; even if you aren’t attending the festival, Indio is the place to be, with a plethora of pool parties to keep you cool all weekend.

Goldenvoice, the company behind the legendary Coachella festival, will be further expanding its live music conglomerate, adding another three-day festival to its calendar.

The festival, titled “Arroyo Seco Music and Arts Festival,” will be held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. Not many details have been released, although the Pasadena City Council approved a 10-year deal between Goldenvoice and Darryl Dunn (Rose Bowl manager), so it appears as if the festival is here to stay. This event will likely be far out in the future, so stay tuned and be sure to check our site for the latest updates.

Is a Fall Version of Coachella Really Happening?

Coachella

Yes. Or to best answer that question, we can confirm that the idea to make a fall Coachella festival a reality in 2016 is truly “making significant progress.”

The festival’s promoters, Goldenvoice, have been in talks with Indio officials to create a yearly fall edition of the biggest festival in the United States, after it began recognizing market opportunities to expand in 2013.

Considering Indio’s role as the home of not only two weekends of Coachella, but also Stagecoach Country Music Festival and a handful of other smaller festivals, a third larger fall Coachella weekend would truly put the California city on the map as the City of Festivals, with projected city revenue of $1.4m.

The city’s mayor, Glen Miller, talked to The Desert Sun and revealed that he has been in talks with Goldenvoice to create Coachella’s newest expansion plan. Miller sad that “significant progress has been made” adding claims to the belief that the announcement is “imminent.”

This year’s Coachella lineup is impressive as ever, featuring a selection of top-drawer underground acts, the Despacio project and other surprises within a roster headlined by the reunion of LCD Soundsystem and Guns & Roses.

Four Tet brings Floating Points, Ben UFO, Daphni and Madlib to LA

Four Tet

This morning the dance music community was hit with a whirlwind of announcements, including the full Lightning In a Bottle line-up and Movement Detroit’s Phase I.

Because good things perhaps come in threes, Four Tet added to the news of his Movement debut and LIB performances with the release of a unique mini-festival set to take place at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles on April 30th.

Presented together with Los Angeles based promoters FYF and Goldenvoice (who puts together Coachella), the night will feature performances by British DJ sensation Ben UFO, Daphni (Caribou’s frontman Dan Snaith), Madlib and perhaps the most acclaimed named of this stellar line-up, Floating Points. The latter caused waves of excitement with his amazing Essential Mix debut in 2015 and has been one of the most sought-after acts to catch since, especially considering the fact that he only played less than ten live sets as of December 2015. Four Tet himself will be performing, a return behind the decks in Los Angeles after his six-hour set at Lot 613 in early December.

Tickets for the 18-and-over show are on sale now, starting at a cheap $15.
