Having featured artists such as techno veteran Echologist aka Brendon Moeller from Patterson, NY and Italy’s Voices from the Lake (aka Donato Dozzy & Neel), Concrete is an Italian label with a penchant for having inspirational creators in tow. Having ordered multiple represses for some of their vinyl only releases, they are assuredly on the right track as they explore an underground universe with the paramount clarity.
This new limited release sees a bulging pack of tracks with some highly desired expertise making some galactic contributions. The label co-founders are also featured, Maurizio Cascella who delivers the original tracks for reinterpretation and Phook who adds to the three remixes provided.
Appearing once again after a recent track with Lunatik titled “Concrete 1” for the label, Giorgio Gigli is an Italian producer who most certainly enjoys collaborating as his back catalogue includes works with Ness, VSK and Paul Ritch for example. His remix of “Disegno 1.2” is a haunting tale of dub techno meets dark atmosphere, trippy vocals from Marco Ariano and droning note pleasure. Known for works on Dutch imprint Planet Rhythm, Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe and Deepbass’ Informa Records his pedigree is recognised.
One for the dance floor as well as a captivating home listen, Evigt Mörker balances a spacey vibe and building tension in an otherworldly trip of deep bass and catchy production layers. An artist known for releasing on Svreca’s Semantica and Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe, he adds a high-quality finish to the EP with a mesmerising remix.
Overall, the tracks are brooding, hypnotic, analogue techno with dub influences, subtle progressions and definitely one to grab a copy of before they sell out.
