In Anatomy, the tympanum is an external hearing system that allows mammals, and other certain species, to sense prey, potential mates, and other aspects of primal, and instinctual idiosyncratic actions.
Tympanum Records, a record label and project situated in Orange County, California, in the USA, is a passion piece that reflects a hybridization of musical ideals. Raw, animalistic sounds that are also emphasized in a form that can also reflect atmosphere, and environmental design in a diverse spectrum of music. This statement reflects the musical styles of the label’s co-owners, EAS, and Josh Sturges.
This EP is the first official release from the label, and contains everything the label is set out to do. It presents two, eclectic and diverse styles, from different approaches of Techno, and then combines them into one hybrid. Both EAS and Josh Sturges present their own natural grooves in the craft, one a brooding, subdued form, and another, distorted and brash. Mosaic is a project created by EAS and Josh Sturges, and presents this hybridization by creating a naturalistic sounding, atmospheric track, and setting it to a typically high octane BPM, creating new ground for both producers.
The album art was created by the extremely talented Silica Design, the man responsible for works such as the logo and a good amount of the album art for Sacred Court, the Techno label from the seasoned SNTS. Tympanum VA01 is available now on all digital outlets, and will be available soon on physical CD.
