During Miami Music Week, the city becomes a dance music metropolis with different sounds and atmospheres everywhere you look. The winners for the 30th International Dance Music Awards (IDMA) were announced last week at WMC. In years past there has been a somewhat even balance between underground and mainstream being represented in the awards, but unfortunately the same cannot be said in 2015.
Each genre was represented, but throughout the 57 various awards there was a clear bias towards the more commercially successful EDM/Pop artists with an apparent negligence for presenting an even playing field. At least the legendary Frankie Knuckles was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award; The IDMAâs did get one thing right. What happens when you gather artists from Desolat, Cocoon, No. 19, Moon Harbour, and 8 Bit? Nothing but amazing things can happen when an event like this comes together, and the Electronique Showcase at WMC is exactly where many people will find themselves on Wednesday March 25th.
Starting with grooves and a BBQ at 3:00pm Wednesday afternoon the event will run deep into the late hours under the musical supervision of Yaya, Reboot, Nitin, Fosky, Christian Nielsen, as well as Electronique artists Prunk, Michael Bibi, and Si Heslin. All of the artists involved for this one will be curating a very special vibe that captures the essence of Miami and WMC.
The best part? Amidst a hectic schedule and some expensive club nights, the Electronique Showcase is free with an RSVP up until 9:00pm. The wait will be over soon as WMC kicks off one week from today.

Fur Coat announced today via their social media of their upcoming North & South America Tour, which will see them play shows across 11 cities kicking off in California this Thursday and Friday in San Francisco, and Los Angeles respectively and ending it at the annual WMC where they join with Damian Lazarus’ Get Lost party on the 28th of March.
