Observe.06 Will Feature The Los Angeles Debut of Assailants (Ben Sims & Truncate)

It is always with great anticipation that Southern California techno aficionados look forward to Thanksgiving weekend in Los Angeles.

For nearly two decades, a collective of like-minded individuals have come together to throw an annual techno gathering that has, through its growth, become one of the most influential party series of North America. Originally called Interface, the party series known as Observe went through a re-branding last year while continuing to deliver events not only in Los Angeles (twice), but also Detroit during Movement weekend, Miami and Chicago.

OBSERVE: A New Techno Beginning in Los Angeles Starting November 24th

For the last 15 years, Droid Behavior and their INTERFACE event series have become synonymous with Los Angeles’ now-thriving techno scene.

There is no doubt that the two brands have been at the forefront of the LA techno world, pushing a sound that was once widely rejected in the city. The team built something great out of nothing, pouring blood, sweat and tears to overcome obstacles, doubters and resistance to build a foundation upon which all techno events in Los Angeles have been built since.

At 6AM we recognize the crucial role INTERFACE events have had in the creating of the techno scene in this city, a scene which makes it possible for us to contribute with our own events today. In fact, most of us at 6AM can directly pinpoint to the exact INTERFACE event that set us down this techno road we are still enjoying today. For us, it was these events that directly lead us to fall in love with techno and, as a result, want to work in this industry.

As drumcell and Truncate announced today via social media, while Droid currently remains dormant for an unforeseeable future, a portion of the crew behind those revolutionary events has decided to move forward with a new vision and a new project: OBSERVE.

We have selected fifteen of our favorites that we think you should definitely give a listen to!

“”5 Essential Tunes with…” is a feature on 6AM that explores underground dance music artist’s current favorite tracks, in an effort to showcase the best productions currently making the rounds in the world of techno, house, tech house and deep house.”

We did not choose One Track Brain to be interviewed for our first installment of this feature by chance. We found irony in asking an artist whose name in and of itself focuses on “one track” to select his current five favorite tunes, and were more than curious to see what the results would be.

Tribute to 50 Weapons

50 weapons

A tribute to 50 Weapons – One of the leading electronic labels of the decade

We all knew this day was coming. When 50 Weapons began in 2005 it was their sole intention to have a limited lifespan, and throughout their presence in the music industry they managed to carve a niche in electronic music. The past ten years have seen 50 Weapons curate EP’s and albums from the likes of Benjamin Damage, Cosmin TRG, Bambounou, Truncate, Marcel Dettmann, Addison Groove, among others; all bringing forth a forward thinking and innovative approach to underground electronic music.

50 Weapons had style, grace, and was always at the forefront of musical exploration. It can be a sad moment when something special like this comes to an end, but rather than mourn the closing of 50 Weapons we choose to honor the musical legacy they’ve left behind.

In our tribute to 50 Weapons, we’ve selected some of our favorite tracks over the years
and trust us when we say this
it was no easy task. Enjoy some of our personal favorites from the 50 Weapons catalog, and make sure to take a closer look into their expansive musical library to find your favorites too.
