Based in NYC and Born in Cali Colombia, Secret Raver A.K.A. John Dikxon was first exposed to music as a child by his grandfather, who played guitar and piano. He started collecting cassette tapes by acts like Pet Shop Boys, Surgeon, and Depeche Mode. By age 14, he enjoyed house music at garage parties. He became interested in DJing, and in 2004 he started visiting more formal clubs.
September 25th sees legendary techno mainstay The Advent team up with Portlandâs Dave Bate to launch Techno-Club.net, a ten-room, fully music-licensed techno streaming âclubâ with sets by Mark Broom, Robert Hood, Floorplan, Lady Starlight, Nightwave, and residencies from Tony Humphries, Hiroko Yamamura, Norm Talley, Sync 24, Cari Lekebusch, DJ Hyperactive, and many more.
The site, fully independent and built from the ground up by the Techno Club team, is one of the first offering PPM (Pay Per Minute) remuneration for DJs providing sets and all music played will be licensed, with tracklists being reported to performing rights organisations so artists are paid correctly. A chat room will also accompany the online experience and the site will be launching music and culture focussed charity initiatives in the coming months.
Ben Klockâs Klockworks invites the legendary Portuguese-born and London-based artist The Advent to join the ever-growing roster to deliver the 22nd release on the label, scheduled for this coming September. The Advent started producing his trademark raw, energetic rave-style tracks back in 1994, and since then has become a rebel and an icon in the scene. Cisco Ferreira, as he is known to friends and family, puts forward three stand-out tracks for Klockworks in this outing, one brand-new and two from The Adventâs rave archives.
Axel Karakasis is the most recognizable Greek name in the Techno scene. His career is marked by a number of classic themes and a series of appearances that have established him as an international DJ.
The rise to his present status did not happen overnight, but goes back to the ’80s and the ’90s, when Techno made its first appearance. Fascinated by this new wave, Axelâs courtship with electronic music saw a very different light⊠By the late 90s, he was already known through various DJ residencies in Athens, as well as through his regular events with his team âBubblesâ âto be remembered to this date by many! This was when the techno wiz-kid earned his place among the top Greek DJs and appeared in numerous events in the biggest clubs of the Greek capital! He soon became the most wanted Greek Techno DJ, playing regularly in the biggest venues in Athens, Thessaloniki, Mykonos, Crete and all over his native Greece.
RemainLtd 106 brings you remixes of two tracks originally signed by Axel Karakasis and included in their 10 year anniversary album! Three top caliber producers, The Advent and Industrialyzer, and Cristian Varela have taken on the challenge and transform this into an extended Techno experience for all Remain fans!
On December 15th, one of the UK’s top clubs Egg London will be celebrating the first anniversary of its record label What Came First, marking this special occasion with a special release from The Advent including Egbert.
