Draft Records First Vinyl Release with Vanita, Chris Lattner, and Cesare vs Disorder

Mr Crawly Album Art

Since inception, Draft has been releasing quality material from the likes of Frank Leicher, Emiliano Ferreyra, Chad Andrew, label owner, Roberto Apodaca, among many more.

The first vinyl release on Draft comes courtesy of ZĂŒrich based artist, Vanita, and she delivers two sides covering the dark, groovy, and hypnotic realms of minimal. Sticking true with the ethos and vibe of Draft, Vanita’s original tracks and the respective remixes are a nice addition to the labels catalog.

The A-side on Mr. Crawly is divided between the title track Crawly with a respective remix from Chris Lattner. The Original Mix builds it’s ambiance through a pulsating frequency that certifiably engulfs the room with bass, whereas Lattner takes things in a slower direction with the spoken word of “Destroying Disco” drifting throughout the mix.

The B-Side is made up of the original track, Dream, with Cesare vs Disorder contributing his interpretation that has been resonating with the dance floors quite nicely since the initial release.

The Mr. Crawly EP vinyl is currently available on Juno, deejay.de, and decks.de, with the digital release forthcoming on August 17th. Listen to the previews below on Soundcloud, and make sure to follow Vanita and Draft for more music.

Sun City Music Festival Celebrates 5 Year Anniversary

Sun City Fireworks

When it comes to dance music in the United States, Texas might not be the first place to jump to mind. Dance music meccas such as Miami, New York, and Los Angeles often cast shadows on other scenes in the country, but Sun City Music Festival in El, Paso, Texas has stepped out of the shadows and into the spotlight.

Taking place Labor Day Weekend at Ascarate Park in El Paso, Sun City Music Festival celebrates their five-year anniversary, and continues to show that they’re at the forefront of delivering electronic music to El Paso.

“Sun City Music Festival is committed to showcasing diverse and underground talent from around the world, while embracing the region’s love of underground styles such as techno and tech house,” states Sun City Marketing Director, Evan Bailey.

This commitment to musical diversity shines through with headlining acts such as Armin Van Buuren and Hardwell, as well as underground heavy weights such as Chris Liebing, Dubfire, Hot Since 82, Oliver Dollar, among many others. With a healthy mix of mainstream and underground acts, Sun City Music Festival provides the ideal setting for newcomers and enthusiasts alike.

When asked about the mixture of mainstream and underground scheduling, Bailey stated that, “the majority of underground talent will be hosted on the Beatport Stage, but Sun City Music Festival will also feature underground artists on all three stages.”

Over the years Sun City has experienced tremendous growth as a festival, and has honed in on their vision for an ideal dance music festival in Texas. SMG Events and Disco Donnie Presents continue to elevate the production value year after year, and 2015 is shaping up to be their biggest yet. The 2015 edition of Sun City Music Festival will play host to 40,000 festival-goers throughout Labor Day weekend, with organizers making several efforts to maximize the festival experience for everyone. Some of these efforts include free water stations, cell phone charging lockers, specialty vendors, art installations, and an increased presence by Beatport both online and at the festival.

“Sun City Music Festival has become the largest dance music festival in the Southwest, and we’re thrilled and appreciative of the fans support in helping make [it] one of the most talked about dance music events in the country,” explains Bailey. “El Paso’s dance music fans are also incredibly active on social media, which helps make Sun City very buzzed about online, too. Both Disco Donnie Presents and SMG are always blown away by how special El Paso’s dance music community is; it’s truly a unique and wonderful place”

Sun City 2015 picks up right where they left off, and is expected to be another great festival in The Lone Star State. Between a grand production and more-than-credible underground lineup, Sun City Music Festival proves to be one of the premier outlets for dance music in Texas. Global Vibe Radio + Q&A with Roberto Apodaca

At the tender age of 21, Roberto Apodaca from El Paso, Texas started Draft Records. That was four years ago, and since then Draft Records has become a prominent record label honing in on the underground sounds of minimal and tech house. With Apodaca at the helm, Draft Records has released EP’s from rising minimal artists such as David Gtronic, Emiliano Ferreyra, Neverdogs, Martinez, and countless others, while acting as a major influence for the underground scene in El Paso.

Starting a record label is one thing, but maintaining the brand and musical vision takes things to a new level. Roberto Apodaca has stayed locked in on his vision for underground dance music, and continues to strive for excellence both in his music and record label.

Roberto has put together a recent mix for our Global Vibe Radio Series, and has taken the time to answer some questions regarding the music scene in Texas, his vision with Draft Records, and tells us about his first time going to Space to see Loco Dice.
