Timmo’s Top 5 Tracks of 2019

Bulgarian talent Timmo returns to Monika Kruse’s Terminal M imprint to deliver his Starlight EP ahead of his forthcoming LP on the label later this year.

With a career dating back to 2008, Valeri Ivanov, aka Timmo, has grown to become a key name and figure within the modern techno landscape. Picked up by Adam Beyer to release his debut EP on Drumcode at the age of just 24, the Bulgarian talent quickly went on to release a string of material via Octopus and Terminal M, whilst making appearances at the likes of D! Club (Lausanne), EGG (London) and Audio (Geneva).

Following his recent stand-out collaboration Violet with Terminal M founder Monika Kruse, here we see a first glimpse into his forthcoming debut album set for release on the label later this year as he reveals three cuts in the form of his Starlight EP that showcase a snapshot and concept of the forthcoming project.

With the EP out today, we asked Timmo to share 5 of his current favorite tracks:

Q&A and Premiere: Alex Mine’s “Lost” Receives Remixes by Roberto Capuano and Carl Cox for Terminal M

Italy has its fair share of outstanding producers, and Alex Mine is one of those young talents that has been making a name for himself the last few years.

Rewind back to 2015, and this was the year that Alex actually produced the original track “Lost”, a track which remained homeless yet waiting to be unleashed on the right label. It wasn’t until he bumped into Monika Kruse whilst in Barcelona for Sonar, where she signed it after the first listen to her beloved Terminal M imprint.

Initial feedback was outstanding, but it really all started to happen when Carl Cox said he loved it, and wanted to do a remix, alongside fellow Italian producer Roberto Capuano. Carl drops a funky, chunky groove rework with tech house vibes, whilst Roberto throws in his techno cut. A hypnotic combination of synthetic movements, vocals and acid rhythms.

“I am very honored to have Carl and Roberto putting their hands on Alex Mine’s track ‘Lost’. And of course, Alex did a brand new 2018 edit for this package as well” – Monika Kruse

So, there you have it – 3 years later, the track comes to life, on Terminal M on the 20th August, with a re-edit from Alex himself, alongside two outstanding remixes, one of which we are proudly premiering today, on top of getting the chance to interview Alex himself.

Monika Kruse: Still a Raver at Heart

Things are pretty exciting for Monika Kruse these days, and that’s saying something for an artist that has been making waves for over 25 years since she came to the scene in 1991.

A pioneer of Germany’s dance culture in the early ’90s, Monika has done it all, from organizing raves in abandoned Munich WWII bomb shelters, to launching her revered Terminal M label in 2000, right through to her DJing schedule which sees her perform at some of the best venues and festivals around the world.

2017 has been no different for her, and in fact some may say it’s been one of the best years of her career to date. She is fresh off the release of her EP Get Me On in collaboration with brothers-from-another-mother Pig&Dan, has already played Time Warp and Dockyards, is scheduled to perform at Awakenings Festival and was a guest on Pete Tong’s celebrated BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix show. But that’s not all, she is throwing her debut Monika Kruse & Friends party during OFF Week in Barcelona, where she is going to play back-to-back with Andrea Oliva and also feature friends UNER and Victor Ruiz on the lineup.

So what’s next for an artist like Monika Kruse who has seemingly done it all and more? We had a chat with her to find out!
