X â Ten Years Of Artefacts, a 13-track album on Stroboscopic Artefacts curated by label-boss Lucy, is out today.
The compilation celebrates ten years of his label by boldly confirming its raison dâĂȘtre: a continual redefinition of modern techno.
Lucy and Rrose join forces for a brand-new collaboration under The Lotus Eaters moniker, complete with a debut album released on Stroboscopic Artefacts entitled Desatura.
Lucy and Rrose have established themselves separately as techno artists with an experimental approach through their own labels (Stroboscopic Artefacts and Eaux, respectively). They immediately connected and started to work together, first with remixes and later making music together in the studio.
Stroboscopic Artefacts is releasing its latest addition to the forward leaning edge of electronic music with the Totem series, unfurling as a chain of transparent 10â vinyl, each of them having their own subtly divergent takes on the aesthetic space defined by techno and club culture.
The Totem series continues investigations previously established by Stroboscopic Artefacts, namely the relation between sound and material object, spatio-temporality and the architecture of music. The Totem series aims collapse the artist, their intention and resonance with the public into one object, an artifact of beauty and functionality, the transparent 10-inch which becomes an emblem. In choosing a less common format for the Totem series, Stroboscopic Artefacts aims to reinforce the cognition that each of these pressings is a unique object, carrying a message that will develop as the recordâs existence moves through space and time.
Stroboscopic Artefacts is set to release an innovative concept with a 10″ transparent vinyl album series called Totem.
In a release, Stroboscopic Artefacts described the Totem series having a “forward-leaning edge”, with each release having a “subtly divergent take on the aesthetic space defined by techno and club culture.” Totem will continue to build on the ideas previously established by Stroboscopic Artefacts: the relation between sound and material object, spatiotemporality, and the musical architecture.
