Having kick-started 2021 in emphatic fashion with POPOFâs huge four-track Skylighter EP just a few weeks ago, Franceâs most revered techno imprint, FORM Music, now unveils its second huge release of the year with the announcement the hard-hitting Flash EP from Stiv Hey.
Stiv Hey focuses on an up-tempo, melody rich style of dark and atmospheric techno, which has been a feature of Dubfireâs SCI+TEC and Uto Karemâs Agile Recordings, amongst others.
Born in Milan, Stiv Hey’s passion for electronic music sparked while immersed in the Italian techno scene of his hometown. Having decided that this was where his future lay, Hey spent the next two years honing his production skillsâstudying sound design, audio engineering, and music theoryâuntil he was prepared to release his first EP in 2012.That first EP, Walking, immediately received support from techno titans Dubfire and Marco Carola, while Hey’s tracks “Squermus,” “Shifted,” and “Mindshake,” would garner play fromSven VĂ€th, Richie Hawtin, and Adam Beyer, respectively.

On July 14, techno’s ascending leader, Stiv Hey, unchains three gripping tracks for his Interference EP on Loose Records. Characterized by hexing rhythms and villainous basslines, Hey’s sound is best described as tantalizing, futuristic techno. Additionally landing himself on Dubfire’s SCI+TEC label, Hey has received support from such torchbearers as Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, and Adam Beyer. Now, Hey debuts a refined, dark, and groovy triple-threat in the release of his first solo EP which available for pre-order via Beatport.
We have the pleasure of premiering “Transitions” from the EP, a track that immediately takes off with a rolling bassline and mesmerizing rhythm. Synths circulate and add further depth to the record, resulting in a overall deep-seated effect.
