Turn back the clock a decade, and youâll find a scene that is fairly different than what many are experiencing today. Different genres were popular, production was far more stripped back than in the present day, and there was a special energy found in the crowd. Another aspect of that era of the scene that canât be ignored is the prevalence of flow arts with hoopers, poi spinners, and more all showing off their unique style, but none were as in your face as the glovers â and that was due in part to the rise of Emazing Lights. If you heading to Florida to attend what was meant to be the first ever Dirtybird Campout East we recommend you halt your plans and consider returning or staying home.
According to Dirtybird Campout’s official social media statements, a series of noise complaints has resulted in local officials closing the festival gates and not allowing anyone else to enter. The tweet with that info was followed by another that recommended “not traveling to the event until further notice.”
Hey campers – we’ve been told to close the gate. Please standby, we’re working on getting more information for you.

If you are not at the site already, we recommend not traveling to the event until further notice.

According to social media posts the situation is serious and there looks to be little hope for the festival to actually take place.

Watergate, one of Berlin’s iconic nightclubs, is at risk of shutting down.
The new landlord has decided to spike up rent by literally doubling it, following the entire building’s recent sale for âŹ6.3 million. This is in some way a result of the club’s own success, falling victim of gentrification after 15 years of extremely successful operation.
Founder Steffen âStoffelâ Hack spoke to Resident Advisor recently on the subject, staying: “In unbridled capitalism, the market regulates the price and there is no protection of business tenants or rental ceilings to counter this, [which] leaves the successful management of Watergate on very fragile terrain. In the end, we will all leave.”
The rent increase is substantial, meaning that the club could decide to shut down if it’s unable to find creative ways to bring in enough revenue to make up for the added costs. Hack has explained how the club has to âexpand conceptually as well as in terms of content.â This includes a forthcoming world tour that will see the venue celebrate its 15th anniversary with stops in Spain, Brazil, Morocco, Switzerland, France and the United States.
Coming up at Watergate in Berlin are acts the likes of Solomun, Soul Clap, Pan-Pot, Adriatique, Coyu, Prosumer, Gui Boratto, Kerry Chandler and many more. Full list of upcoming shows can be found here.
Following the announced temporary closure of fabric London over the weekend, the local Islington Council has gone a step further by suspending the club’s license indefinitely.
While it was originally believed that the venue would remain shut for just a weekend as investigations began on the recent overdose deaths of two patrons, the club has now had its license suspended indefinitely following a review requested by the boroughâs police team. A full review hearing to decide the clubâs fate will be conducted later this month.
âOfficers felt the need to act due to concerns about the safety of those attending the club because of the supply of class A drugs in the venue and the recent deaths of two young men linked to the club,â stated a Met spokesman.
An Islington Council spokesman responded: âAfter two recent drug-related deaths, the Metropolitan Police applied for an interim suspension of Fabricâs licence.
âFabric agreed not to contest this application, and a licensing sub-committee has today suspended Fabricâs licence.
âThis will be followed by a review of Fabricâs licence within 28 days.â
Fabric announced on Saturday that all ticket holders will be refunded via Resident Advisor.
Last year already, several promoters, DJs and labels offering free beach parties on the Balearic island of Ibiza were told to pack their bags by authorities who put their foot down on events such as Diynamic, tINI and the Gang, and Detroit Love showcases.
This summer, tINI, who famously played back-to-back with Bill Patrick for 31 hours at Sunwaves earlier this year, had planned to hold five daytime tINI and the Gang parties on Tuesdays at Ibiza’s Lips Beach Club.
However, the producer and DJ took to her social networks to announce some sad news via live video, “Unfortunately there will be no free beach party this year for us. The government again strike back in Ibiza. That’s really sad news, I’m trying not to cry here. But that’s how it is, we’ve got to deal with it.”
She proceeded to tell her fans that the parties were at least able to find a new home, at the San Rafael club Underground, starting this Tuesday at 9.30pm until 6.30am. tINI was at least happy to be able to feature the same artists that were scheduled to play at Lips throughout the five-party residency.
This isn’t the first news of Ibiza authorities stepping in to change the spectrum of the island’s party ways. They have already clamped down on club closing times, forcing every venue to shut their doors at 6:30am when in the past it was the continued and long parties deep into the morning that made Ibiza such a revered destination throughout the world.
