UK-born, Berlin-based producer BEC is fast becoming one of techno’s biggest rising talents. Having already released on Drumcode, Second State and Intec, 2020 looks set to be another big year, with releases lined up on Filth On Acid, Kneaded Pains, as well as a debut release on her own label, BEC. Today, BEC shares her top 5 influential tracks of the moment.
Based in Cracow/Poland, born in Greece is a music producer and DJ, who is fast becoming one of Techno’s most exciting breakthrough artists originating from Eastern Europe. One can recognize DEAS’ Greek origins and East European upbringing in his music and his Guest Mix today, where enthusiasm and fantasy blends in varying shades of Techno.
Rocko Garoni might be new to Second State, but he’s already made an indelible impression. If 2018’s Detection EP marked the respected Berlin DJ as a producer to watch, his sophomore Second State release entitled Phobia confirms him as an electrifying new talent.
Having made his mark on important clubs and festival stages across Germany and as far as the Netherlands, Israel and Brazil, Garoni has a well-trained ear for what works on the dancefloor. He deploys it to devastating effect on the Phobia EP.
Two worlds come together for the first time, an unexpected collaboration that seems to of paid dividends for the pair. Dutch techno artists VNTM Live and Tahko join forces for the next instalment, on Second State with their ‘Rave Culture’ track.
Now is a great time to catch these two very good friends launching this project trying something new.
The dynamic pair delivering high octane energy on the opening track of this VA have more than enough to shout about with upcoming high profile festivals gig for VNTM Live at Tomorrowland (Afterlife Stage), Straf_Werk Festival (Tale of us Stage), Summerlake Festival and more. Tahko will be taking the reins at Welcome to the Future and Thuishaven Techno Special. Both with ADE in the pipeline, and more releases on their way.
This latest SUM package spans a vast expanse of artists from newcomers to heavy hitters who provide sounds from dark, hard edged cuts to grooving euphoric treks. Joining VNTM & Tahko’s ‘Rave Culture’ is Risa Taniguchi’s ‘Ridiculous’ as well as maestro Nick Curly’s ‘Refuge’ and JNO’s ‘Relief’, who just released his first EP on Second State.
Industrialyzer’s ‘Pulse’ certainly picks up the pace again as Ilija Djokovic’s ‘Chimera’ and Frazier’s ‘Escapism’ blend the lines between post modern production techniques and classic rave sounds. Turning into the back half of the compilation we have the wicked vibes of Flug’s ‘Maschine’ and Fabio Florido’s ‘Upsurge’ pave the way for newcomers Emanate’s mesmerizing ‘Again & Again’.
Wrapping up the twelve tracker are ‘Wiggle’, a wild track of the winner of this year’s Beats in School competition by Beatport and Second State, and the label’s mainstay BEC’s instant hit ‘Three Words’, resulting in a finely curated package that will deliver in any moment.
We caught up with Tahko and VNTM to talk about their latest release, their relationship with Second State and the nature of this new collaboration they’ve launched together.
DJ and producer BEC, has had a string of successful releases signed under Pan-Pot’s Second State Audio and Carl Cox’s Intec Digital in the past years. She’s also been labeled as one of the most exciting newcomers by Pulse Radio and even got support from Charlotte De Witte who’s been performing back-to-back with her recently in Colombia.
More recently, she caught her ears with her latest EP Sines & Breaks on VOIGHT, now available on Beatport.
It seemed fitting then to not only feature this rising artist on our weekly Global Vibe Radio mix series but to sit down for a chat with her as things began heating up on her fall schedule.
Andres Campo has been making a name in the electronic music scene as one of the most exciting artists in the scene today. With a residency at the iconic Florida 135 in Barcelona and stacked calendar of shows he has played from Tomorrowland to RESISTANCE to Parklife, the Spanish producer has proven his worth as an artist and has gained a massive following.
Now, Campo is all set for his debut at the Second State label with a three-track release titled Rola set to be released July 13.
Pan-Pot’s Second State is back again with the third edition of their SUM series featuring a selection of established label family and friends.
The compilation release showcases ten impressive tracks traversing all corners of the techno spectrum from the peak time, big room antics of Reform’s “Magic Land”, Sinisa Tamamovic’s “Moody Day,” and Wehbba’s “Unfold” to more dark twisted psychedelic heaters like Alex Rubino’s “Frequency,” Alisa Bergwerk’s “Back To The Roots” and DEAS’ “Friday Rain”.
Not only do Pan-Pot present a diverse group of artists on their VA series, but also deliver new tunes from established heavy-hitters such as Eats Everything with “South Of West Country,” Mark Reeve and “Are We Different,” and last but not least our premiere for today: Ninetoes’ “Gloomy Lake”.
Not to be outdone just yet, SUM 3 features, for the first time, an appearance from Pan-Pot themselves with their timeless cut “Luio” wrapping up the ten track release into one highly explosive package.
Pan-Pot’s Second State imprint has announced its first release of 2017, a two-track EP entitled House To Techno which comes courtesy of Martin Eyerer and Ackermann.
It is no mistake that Martin, who founded Riverside Studio Berlin with Pan-Pot, and Ackermann have gone down a techier route than their usual work, as the title track and EP names so aptly suggest. “From House 2 Techno” adopts catching vocals and a classic Detroit sound coupled with hi-hats and a rapturous build-up, while “Inside” focuses more on percussions to deliver a track that is more suitable for bigger rooms than its darker counterpart.
Listen to “Inside” exclusively via 6AM below, as we catch up with both Martin and Achermann ahead of the digital release scheduled for January 20th.
