There is little to no doubt that Soma Records make the list as one of the most respected techno imprints of today. Label bosses Slam formed the label in the distant 1991 alongside friends Glenn Gibbons and Dave Clarke, and are now celebrating 25 years of operation.
The label made a name for itself in its infant years with a catalog of fantastic music outings, including Slam’s very own timeless “Positive Education” and early career releases from the likes of Surgeon, Envoy, Funk D’Void, Silicone Soul and Alex Smoke. Not many know, for example, that french duo Daft Punk released their first raw music pieces on the label back in 1994.
To celebrate the 25 year milestone, Soma has asked a selection of the world’s finest techno acts to provide fresh brand-new music for a specially curated 15-track Limited Edition 5XVinyl Box Set. Old timers the likes of Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Steve Bicknell, Andrew Weatherall (appearing as Woodleigh Research Facility), Blawan and Adam Beyer were joined by more recent techno newcomers such as Kobosil, VRIL and Jonas Kopp  to select and remix some of Soma’s best back-catalog material for a fresh representation of the role Soma plays in techno today.
Accompanying the brilliant music selection, Soma “decided it was necessary to match the unique musical sensibilities displayed with an artistic environment that clearly juxtaposed the ideas set forth in the project.” The collaboration with Scottish artist Kyle Irvine has resulted in a selection of unique designs crafted specifically for the box set, which also includes exclusive Soma 25 stickers, a poster and illustrated vinyl sleeves.
The box set will be officially released on March 31st.

Wednesday nights at Amnesia Ibiza have been Hyte territory since last summer, when the techno-centered residency first landed on the island with bang. While in 2015 the residency was spearheaded by Loco Dice and Maceo Plex, this year the latter has left and launched his own debut Mosaic residency at Pacha Ibiza. Loco Dice will continue to head Hyte with appearances at all except three nights throughout the entire summer.
The 16-week party series will begin on June 1st with a pre-opening party before officially starting on June 29th and ending on October 5th. The roster of talent is deep, with a total of 42 artists set to perform. Others regularly playing the Wednesday night party include Chris Liebing (12 nights), Pan-Pot (11 nights) and Enzo Siragusa who is bringing his Fuse imprint to the Club room on four nights throughout the residency.

Some of the most illustrious guests visiting the club include Robert Hood who will play twice as Floorplan; Henrik Schwarz who is playing three times solo and once as one-half of Schwarzmann in September ; Gregor Tresher on July 6th; Premiesku with two separate dates; and finally the likes of Len Faki, Maya Jane Coles, Caribou and DJ Harvey all playing once.
This summer, Hyte is promoting a “Yes To All” mentality of inclusion, hoping to bring together a mix of club-goers who enjoy big room techno, tech house and house alike. They will also be hosting 5 after-hours event at Cova Santa, set for June 1st, July 27th, August 10th, August 17th and September 28th. Lineups are still TBA but will likely feature artists that played Amnesia the night before. You can find the full Hyte roster below or through RA’s promoter page.

Movement is expanding to the promised land of Croatia, dubbed by many as the new Ibiza following recent years of festival and party expansion.
Movement Croatia is set to debut this coming July with a large roster of techno and house talent that includes the likes of Sven VÀth, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Derrick May, Octave One, Steve Rachmad, Robert Hood, Nina Kraviz, Dave Clarke and Margaret Dygas.
The Movement name has been expanding over the years, taking over the Detroit festivities in 2006 and establishing an Italian version in the northern city of Turin just over nine years ago. 2015 saw the Detroit festival touch down in Puerto Rico for a special Caribbean getaway, with the Italian version of the brand visiting Croatia for a smaller club edition last summer that now turns out was the stepping stone for the festival set to launch this July.
Tisno, 2013
In the last few years, Croatia’s new-found status as a hot spot for electronic music festivities has seen the country benefit from thousands making the pilgrimage over the summer months. Movement Croatia will occur at The Garden Tisno, a 2,500 capacity outdoor venue that has also been home to Sunwave Croatia, Electric Elephant and Love International Festival.
Movement Croatia will offer three stages of indoor and outdoor beachside programming, as well as boat parties, with  a variety of accommodation options that range from air-conditioned apartments to camping and airstream trailers. Individual stages will be hosted by:

Detroit techno producer Robert Hood is releasing a new LP under the alias Floorplan. Entitled Victorious, the album was produced together with his daughter Lyric Hood.
Hood began producing under the alter-ego in the late 90s, a means to release productions that were funkier and melodic than the straight techno his fans had been accustomed to. Although the project died down for a a few years, it was revived with a string of EP releases that began in 2010 and culminated with 2013’s Paradise album release.
From this point forward, Hood has announced that Floorplan will remain a duo project. He will continue producing techno solo and is set to release a new album and three EPs through Dekmantel soon. His daughter Lyric has been known to DJ with him, most recently during a Boiler Room performance last fall and at on as big a stage as Movement Detroit in 2014. She co-produced several of the tracks on Victorious, set to be released in full on June 10th through Hood’s own M-Plant label.
This past week Hood was featured in our celebration for Black History Month and billed for a Hip-Hop set to take place during Weather Festival in Paris.
