The dance music world has introduced so many techniques and elements to music production opening the door to creativity. It’s allowed for artists to take on various interpretations of original works. Many of you have heard remixes of popular house and techno tracks. Take for instance Green Velvet’s 1995 track “Flash.” It’s received remix treatments from  Eats Everything, Latmun, and Alberto Ruiz among others. That same track also has other versions including edits and bootlegs. What’s the difference between a remix vs edit and then some? It can get confusing, so let’s break down the technical aspects of music production and arrangement.
Order Is Chaos, the debut LP from Insolate, just received remix treatment by Ben Sims, Pfirter, Sev Dah, Amotik, Under Black Helmet and more for Order Is Chaos Remixed which was released earlier this month.
Released via her Out of Place imprint a year on from the debut album, Order is Chaos Remixed sees the Croatian techno artist draft eight of techno’s most vital talents to create a remix LP which touches on a spectrum of modern techno sounds.
T Y adds an industrial techno spin to Shadym and his original track titled “Madtype.” T Y is a composer of electronic music in the styles of techno and sub-ground. His music is submerged by retro-aggressive energy with a little touch of trance and electro.
Floating Machine’s remix of Imprea’s “Deimos” helps you escape into another dimension. Its ambient sounds are characteristic of the Portuguese producer’s realm of experimental techno. Born Antonio Lourenço, the artist gathers influences from jazz and ambient to techno with psychedelic and hypnotic soundscapes. He learned and regularly played instruments like guitar, piano and sax as well as took part in some experimental projects in distinct areas like jazz, funk, and reggae. Read more
Vanity Crime has remixed Röyksopp’s “Here She Comes Again” adding a new vibe to the addictive track. The Italian-based artist (Francesco Ferraro) is well-known as a futuristic innovator. His tastes involve various musical journeys from minimal tech to house and afro deep to raw hypnotic techno. Read more

Electronic supergroup Better Lost Than Stupid aka Matthias Tanzmann, Martin Buttrich & Davide Squillace released their acclaimed debut album Wild Slide in September 2019, alongside the first single Right Now, which was described as a âgenuine masterpieceâ by Mixmag. Today, MousseT remixes Better Lost Than Stupid “Overboard” and we grabbed the exclusive premiere.
2020 will see a series of remixes from various album tracks released, with the third coming from Glitterbox affiliate MousseT who crafts an inspiring remix of the groupâs “Overboard.”

Next up for 8Bit Records, Nick Curly delves into his back catalogue and adds a timely polish to âThe Voodooâ and âNo Takersâ two tracks which were favourites of his in the past few years. Remix support is the new addition to this release, which comes from Audiojack and Marco Faraone, both making their debut on 8Bit.
AVOTRE label boss Santé released his highly anticipated Current II album at the beginning of the year and is now following up with two remix EPs featuring a host of talented producers.
The imaginative 5-track EP features re-works from the likes of Luca Donzelli, Dimmish, J&J, Ariel Rodz & Bodeler, and Frank Storm, and perfectly displays both the versatility of the remix artists as well as the great subject material they’ve worked with. These fresh Avotre additions will no doubt become staples in the years to come as the label re-asserts its tastemaker status.
