Modus' new label Operandi

Modus’ New Label, Operandi, Debuts Compilation

Techno producer Modus’ new label, Operandi, has recently launched and with it welcomes a delicious dark techno compilation. Born Joshua Garcia, the Los Angeles-native artist and now label head wasn’t always about the synthesizers, hi-hats or drum machines. Clouds Announce New Headstrong EP “Sharp Like A Razor”

The gritty UK outfit known as Clouds just released their latest offering, Sharp Like A Razor, a 4-track, high-speed maelstrom of sound. The second release on Headstrong, their co-owned imprint with frequent collaborator Randomer, this tetrad of productions combines dastardly drum sequences and formidable kicks into refined electronic expressions.

The hunt for the title track has been severe from frequenters of the World Wide Web ever since Randomer’s Boiler Room last summer, and is joined by 3 exceptional counterparts in “Another Day”, “Fantazia 2003” and “Arkhangelsk Nightmare”.

Clouds showcase their visceral club cracking edges by providing functional yet intriguing tunes to stimulate the dance.

The UK has a reputation for creating new genres, and Clouds tapped into that entrepreneurial spirit on “Sharp Like A Razor.” Elements of techno, leftfield, hardcore, jungle, garage and innumerable other sources of inspiration can be heard throughout, all with a certain flavor that Clouds have defined on their own. The pair recently ascribed to the philosophy of performing DJ sets comprised entirely of their original productions. This EP will have a welcome place in those sets.

On June 30th, Downtown Los Angeles’ Lot 613 will be hosting the 57th edition of Prototype, a PRIME showcase in collaboration with esteemed Los Angeles techno label and party curators Droid Behavior as well as fellow techno outfit RUSE Techno.

Big label releases and crushing performances at festivals around the world have put Matrixxman in high demand through out the DJ circuit. UK’s Randomer makes another fine addition to the Prime/Prototype roster of guests. This extremely talented and diverse producer has released his interpretations of techno and bass music on a wide range of labels including Hemlock, Hessle Audio, Clone and L.I.E.S. As a performer his ability to convincingly stitch together modern bass, 4 on the floor and broken beat tracks throughout his sets is second to none.
