Raíz Nurture The Scene They Built From Scratch

Leading up to the 15th-anniversary celebration of Droid Behavior, Los Angeles duo Raíz recap a decade and a half of delivering uncompromising techno to a city better known for house, trance and dreaded EDM.

Brothers Vidal and Vangelis Vargas offer insights on the city’s unique Latino electronic heritage, trying to throw techno events during the dark ages of the early ’00s and why relocating to a more flight-friendly locale (ahem, Berlin, ahem) is just not an option when an entire community has come to count on you.

Win 2 GA Tickets to Prototype 057: Droid PRIME – Matrixxman, Randomer, Raíz + RUSE Techno

On June 30th, Downtown Los Angeles’ Lot 613 will be hosting the 57th edition of Prototype, a PRIME showcase in collaboration with esteemed Los Angeles techno label and party curators Droid Behavior as well as fellow techno outfit RUSE Techno.

The lineup is big, with new to the scene heavy hitters Matrixxman and Randomer both making their Prototype debuts. Matrixxman’s steady growing discography on imprints like Dekmental, Ghostly, and Delft bring futuristic yet analog and acidic elements to the dance music genre. Big label releases and crushing performances at festivals around the world have put Matrixxman in high demand through out the DJ circuit. UK’s Randomer makes another fine addition to the Prime/Prototype roster of guests. This extremely talented and diverse producer has released his interpretations of techno and bass music on a wide range of labels including Hemlock, Hessle Audio, Clone and L.I.E.S. As a performer his ability to convincingly stitch together modern bass, 4 on the floor and broken beat tracks throughout his sets is second to none. Droid residents Raiz will be joined by the RUSE DJs Template & Kglndo to set the pace with style and grace.

Check out the FB event for full info. Tickets available on RA.

Droid Behavior continues their West Coast showcase with back-to-back events in San Francisco and San Diego this weekend presented by SF based techno promotion group, Robot Ears. Following the initial leg of the tour in LA last Saturday hosted by Dirty Epic, the Los Angeles techno collective brings their 52nd installment of Interface to Mighty SF on Friday July 31st featuring Droid front runners Drumcell, Truncate, and Raíz with mind-bending visuals by Oktaform.

The Interface series has been the staple event of Droid Behavior for more than 10 years stemming from its humble beginnings in LA to packed out shows in Amsterdam, Detroit, and New York. The anticipation of Droid’s debut in San Francisco has been brewing for the past month; the wait will soon come to a close and a night of heavy sounds and underground vibes is in store.

On Saturday, the Droid camp migrates down to San Diego for a rare night of techno joined by Halo and Robot Ear’s John Kaberna as they continue to spread their sound that has caught global attention among techno lovers and party-goers worldwide.
