Q&A and Premiere: Markus Suckut To Release “Resist” Album on EXILE

Markus Suckut is a producer and DJ that cannot be pigeon-holed. His personal history with music begins back in 1999 when the then young Markus first discovered electronic music and began experimenting with various musical directions, spurred on by the excitement of DJing and the exploration of new sounds. It did not take long for him to find his niche in techno, and in particular with the dub side of the genre.

Just as his productions are, his sets reach wide in the spectrum of techno, characterized by an allure of dreaminess and a penchant for melancholy and thought-provoking sounds.

On March 7th Markus is slated to release Resist, a nine-track album coming out on his own EXILE imprint, which he runs with Johannes Heil. Heil talked about the album, which follows releases on Rekids, SCKT, Figure and new alias Tales Of The Machines:

It is a big temptation – whilst striving to place oneself on the map – to favor and repeat established structures and norms in order to gain fortune, fame and power. To cripple a work of art under pressure of commercial success and to trade the uniqueness of a creative spark for an egoistic idea means using a calculating mind to overrule art and emotions. But this pulse of an artist is not his mind but his heart with which he exposes his energy and vibration through frequencies. For this reason there is only one way which retains the creation in its innocent spontaneous form in order to stay true to its inspirational core. The Path Of Resistance!

On top of exclusively premiering “Ninth Movement” off the album, our personal favorite of the entire fantastic release, we had the chance to chat a little bit with Markus ahead of the album dropping next week

Q&A and Premiere: Arseniu Releases “Just Me” EP On Pool House Black

Romanian producer and DJ Marius Popa, artist name Arseniu, is known for his deep fusions of techno, able to blend the minimalistic sounds of his home country with deeper fusions of deep tech and dub.

His latest release comes in the form of a two-track EP entitled Just Me being released on Pool House Black, a sub-label of Chicago’s Pool House that focuses on the darker techno sounds to come out of the imprint. The title track is a 14-plus minute minimal deep tech affair, driven by a drum loop, intermittent drawn-out noises and sparse vocals. The second original in the release, “Soul,” is a deeper 9-minute production filled almost entirely by percussions and a reinvigorating, soulful chord. You can pre-order the EP, scheduled for release on March 13th, via Beatport.

On top of premiering the EP exclusively, which you can listen to below, 6AM had a talk with Arseniu, to discover more of his roots and approach to music production:

Alexis Tyrel Premieres Track Off Forthcoming “Return To Planet Alpha” EP

Lessismore record label, founded in 2003 by the Dutch DJ and producer Alexis Tyrel together with MBC, has been home for mostly his own releases under all his monikers and ‘various artist’ compilations.

Return To Planet Alpha continues in this tradition, being a second long-player of Alexis Tyrel after his debut Newtradition from 2011. Return To Planet Alpha is a collection of elegant techno tracks which instead of following the now so popular dark and destructive path focuses on daily moods and airy atmosphere, which is closer to open air and lounge than to sweaty pits of contemporary rave. But that doesn’t mean that the twelve tracks are just indistinctive background music.

For one thing, Tyrel is a master of slick and tight beat foundations of kick drums and bass, often smoothed out with cool synth pads, onto which he layers all kinds of rhythmical chains, subtle melodic ideas and sounds ranging from vintage synths and industrial bits to organic textures and even field recordings. Another distinctive feature of Alexis Tyrel (and his alter ego Gideon, which appears as a remixer on the LP) is diversity and playfulness. The sound environment of the LP, which is obvious from the album and track titles, inclines to a space theme, mainly thanks to the synthesizers recalling the 1980s. But instead of just recreating that.

We are honored to be premiering “Right Side Of The Sun” off of the forthcoming EP, and to have had the time to chat with Alexis ahead of the release. The twelve-track LP Return To Planet Alpha will be released March 17th on digital and vinyl via Lessismore and available for purchase here.
