Premiere: Listen to Astrofella’s “Artemis” on Partapart Records

Founded in 2012, Partapart Records is a label set in the midst of the thriving neo-cultural scene in Istanbul. Pushing the freshest in experimental talent, Astrofella is another notch on the expanding index of the imprint.

Artemis reinvents a classic tail of pure fusion. The amalgamation of native harmonies, and fleeting use of the vocoder, channels both the sentimental and explorative, whilst the recurring brass theme consolidates the tracks transient journey. Progressing with the binary theme, the video features two protagonists -of opposing temperaments- in varying poly-luminous settings. The forest and night sky are aligned with the esoteric tonality of the track, whereas the careful use of textures reverberate some of the smaller subtleties within the sampling.

Apollo rounds off the EP with slick synths and ghostly vocals. The arpeggiated progressions are symbolic of trance-like highs, although, when combined with the techno/industrial-inspired percussion, the track achieves a unique dark euphoria.

Premiere: Listen to Tomoki Tamura’s “5ive Years” on Holic Trax

Following on from two huge EPs by Mr G as well a joint effort from Satoshi Tommie & Tuccilo, Holic Trax’s latest arrives from label owner and all-round top producer, Tomoki Tamura. The final installment in the label’s 5 year anniversary package, HT25 sees Tomoki return to what he does best: producing a slew of deep and banging tracks, each of which comes with its own unique dance floor sensibilities.

Opening up the EP is the sounds of the appropriately named “5ive Years”. A techno workout that’s notable for its off-kilter motifs and a stubborn, industrial feel, it’s full of glowing vibes that are best suited to the big room. Unforgiving and full of atmosphere, it’s the sign of a producer who clearly knows his way around the mixing deck. “Polyphonic Six” displays the producer’s more introspective sound thanks to a melancholic perspective that’s paired with a fierce kick.

Q&A and Premiere: Chicago’s Vested To Release Emod’s “Videogame Warfare” EP

Keeping true and parallel to the musical vision of Vested as a Chicago-based music and event brand, Vested Recordings is the home of a range of forward-thinking electronic music sounds, ranging from deep to tech-house to progressive to techno to house, with the common thread being the timeless low-end prime-mover groove that proper progressive house has always championed.

Vested’s second outing offers a compelling contrast to the label’s first release, a two track EP by 17 year-old German “wonderkid” Emod that fuses techno grooves and percussion garnished with progressive house melodic elements and textures. Inspiring creative elements give each of the two tracks their own distinct themes and moods, and are great selections to play during a music-forward peak hour DJ set. The title track, “Videogame Warfare”, features clever use of NES videogame samples giving the track a retro flavor with killer energy, while “Ablaze” features a higher tempo and sounds reminiscent in tribute of classic techno, while both compelling the listener’s attention with a cutting edge sound of “now”.

Enjoy a premiere of the full EP and read on for an in-depth interview with DJ, producer, party curator and Vested label founder RJ Pickens.

The critically acclaimed album proved one of the most elegant bodies of work to see release in early 2016 and that is exactly what Jan Blomqvist builds on as he releases its sixteen-track remix album: Remote Control (Remixed).

Today we are premiering Lexer‘s remix of “Back In The Taxi” in turn opts for a percussion-heavy and progressive take on ‘Back In The Taxi’, displaying the full extent of his innate talent and intuitive approach to music. That attitude helped him become a staple in and around the Berlin scene and shines through in his groove-plated remix as well.
