Q&A and Premiere: One Child Policy Discusses His Debut EP on VRV, His Asian-American Heritage and Favorite LA Food Spots

Out on Los Angeles based VRV, One Child Policy‘s debut introduces the electronic music world to a new and distinct sound. Featuring a yin and yang selection of tracks, Cultural Transmissions (order here) contains productions that are both club-ready and cerebral in nature, kinetic and moving while simultaneously exercising the mind into new dimensions.

One Child Policy (1CP) is a project born out of the LA’s colorful San Gabriel Valley Chinese area, a fusion of sorts that sees the amalgamation of electronica with a background of classical music, electrical engineering and sound design. The results are peculiar, in a most positive way, with distorted vocals, mind-bending synth leads, gritty yet warm percussions and an overall atmospheric aura that carries through all his tracks.

We had a chat with the man behind the project to talk about his roots, favorite Los Angeles food spots and the journey that took him here: the release of his debut on one of LA’s most recognized labels, from which we are premiering the track “Chase The Dragon.”

Premiere: Listen to “Meeting You” by Miyagi with Lazarusman

“Meeting You” comes from Miyagi‘s forthcoming Scene From A Dream album on his label Lost Diaries, out on Nov 20th.

Open your eyes. See the focus and the fade come into view, a swirl of once was and now is no longer. There is a road that leads to nothing, and inside there is something opening up. It takes a moment, a breath, a sharp inhale, before you know it: the dream has begun. Your fingers are flowers, your hair the cool rain on the grass. You and me, we are not the strangest things here. We are stranger than sound, than sight, than thought. What is hidden here, behind that mist that slips into your very thoughts? A heartbeat made material, and yet… something beating far beyond. A dream, you think… a dream where the universe itself moans and twitches, knitting together a vision of something new and unseen. In a world of fabricated realness, you have touched the thrumming veins of true being. You remember the will-be, the am, and ‘I am.’ I am the firefly in the night, the shooting star, the swirl of something that is nothing and everything at once. I am you, you are me. We are.

Hungary’s Belocca is well-known as prolific and talented producer, and his contribution to this release solidifies the reputation. His “Secrets Of The Moon” endeavor brings together rough, syncopated rhythms and beautiful, dark melodies, resulting in a peak-time track that builds and releases with the energy of a cannon.
