Vancouver’s JGarrett Returns to SubSensory with Five Thunderous Techno Cuts Entitled “Leverage”

Vancouver-based producer and performing artist JGarrett has been heavily involved in the techno scene for nearly twenty-five years now. In 2012 he started the Subspec Music imprint which became a home for many of his productions along with labels such as Perc Trax, Gobsmacked, Decoy and Dirty Minds.

JGarrett’s heavy hitting, industrial productions have picked up support from techno giants such as Dax J, Dave Clarke, Electric Indigo, Mark Broom and Kyle Geiger, in addition to gaining him sets all over North America. Leverage sees JGarrett return to SubSensory for his latest EP on the imprint following the likes of Sergio Vilas, Dmux and label owner JAK.

‘Unsupported Fulcrum’ gets things rolling with roaring modulations, shimmering kicks and energetic grooves before ‘Leverage’ offers up stabbing melodies, driving synth swells and tantalising tones. Partisan, the new moniker of Mick Finucan, who has releases on ARTS, Decoy and Subspec, provides an uncompromising techno remix of ‘Leverage’ through shaky drums, haunting oscillations and popping swirls.

Premiere: Solc Debuts on Jaw Dropping Records with “From Another World” EP

A deep and loving relation to artists from Latin and South America has been constant in the evolution of the JAW label family. There have been countless releases by amazing artists from Brasil and other countries on Jannowitz Records and this tradition is going to be continued by Jaw Dropping Records as well.

Solc is from Brasil and one of the label’s most recent discoveries. His productions are rich and colourful, highlighting melodies that flow over beats on the edge between house and techno. For his From Another World EP he produced two Original tracks – one, “Cosmic Glue,” being a little bit more groovy, with driving hi-hats, a bumpy beat and cow bells – the other, “From Another World,” living off a dreamy synth chord sequence that fits perfectly into Berlin clubs like Panorama Bar or Kater Blau.

Premiere: Listen to Drumcomplex’s Remix of Maksim Dark’s “Sunfire” for Latest EP on Jannowitz Records

Jannowitz Records’ relationship with Maksim Dark has come a long way from the days Jannowitz first heard this uber-producer’s skills on imprints like Oliver Huntemann’s Sense and Dubfire’s Sci+Tec.

What has ensued is a series of releases on Jannowitz, culminating in this latest EP, titled Sunfire. A comparably small EP for Jannowitz standards, Surefire consists of two tracks and one remix by Drumcomplex, also a dear friend of the label and a more than well-known producer in Germany and beyond.

Here Drumcomplex takes “Sunfire” and creates his own version of it. His remix is more loopy, more tooly, taking the best parts of the original and creating a vibe with a stronger kick, less focus on the baseline and more on the dance floor.

Maksim Dark’s Sunfire EP is out April 15th on Jannowitz Records and available HERE

Detroit’s DJ 3000 returns to his Motech imprint with two vibrant cuts entitled Illyrian EP including remixes from Second State’s Michael Klein and Rawthentic boss Carlo Lio.

Motech boss Franki Juncaj aka DJ 3000 holds a strong ethos for his Detroit label, a bastion of the underground sound now entering its eighteenth year. Juncaj first emerged onto the scene in 2002 through his ‘Somewhere in Detroit’ mix on Submerge Recordings and later that year launched his Motech imprint. His discography includes further releases on labels such as Playmobil, Submerge and Motech whose longevity stems from Juncaj’s resistance in compromising his signature sound whilst maintaining true authenticity.
