Global Vibe Radio 148 Feat. P.E.A.R.L.

Berlin-based Spanish producer, owner of the Falling Ethics imprint and member of the PoleGroup crew, P.E.A.R.L. steps up to deliver the 148th edition of Global Vibe Radio.

Born and breed in Santander (North of Spain), his first contact with Electronic music comes from 90®s UK sounds that lately will make a fundamental role as his influences and inspiration. As a teenager he began to discover club culture in his local area being heavily impacted by the sounds of British techno either as Birmingham harsh beats or Sheffield and Warp’s IDM sounds.

In 2000 he moves to Barcelona and soon the need of being active instead of passive makes him start experimenting with electronic music creation, using software and becoming part of the Agony Forces Project (from 2006 to 2013), first as a trio then as a duo leaving a bunch of Eps released.

2007 marks the starting point of his now primary outlet: P.E.A.R.L. releasing his first EP in Christian WĂŒnsch’s Tsunami Label, followed by several releases under various aliases like RHEA for the cult label Semantica Records or Basqiam on the american label Detroit Underground.

In 2012 he moves to Berlin and one year after feels the need for having his own imprint founding Falling Ethics Records, first as an outlet for his own productions and lately opening the doors to other creators like Dimi Angelis or The Transhumans. Celebrating in February 2017 his 10th vinyl release.
During this period he releases works for essential labels like Warm Up Recordings, Float Records, 47 Recordings, PoleGroup or Transhuman Records and also his cooperation with Marcel Heese as PMH.

2017 is going to be a pivotal year on his career, with the release of his first Album Temptation through Impatience to be in all stores this spring on his very own Falling Ethics and his addition to the PoleGroup family.

As a performer he is a solid live act and also an excellent selector in the dj booth, combining the pulse of aggressive beats with mental, ambiental and experimental flavors.

Juan Rico, the Asturian known in the techno scene as Reeko, has been DJing since 1997 although it was in 2002 that the world got a first taste of his production skills when he introduced himself professionally with a debut release on Sweden’s Emergence imprint.

While Reeko may be his best-known alias, the Spanish techno producer has made music and played under a series of monikers, as evidenced by his latest EP entitled Cubismo, released under his Architectural alias. Over the years Reeko has also been involved with a series of label projects, including Mental Disorder and Evidence, all before finding his home amongst the elite of Hispanic techno with PoleGroup.

In fact, Reeko was given the honors of compiling PoleGroup’s Unknown Landscapes: Vol. IV, a CD mix series of unreleased tracks, mixed and compiled by a member of the label’s roster. The Spanish producer and track selector has selected 22 previously unreleased tracks including work by label favorites Exium, Kwartz, Jonas Kopp, Pfirter and Oscar Mulero, as well as new faces on the imprint such as Reggy van Oers, DJ Hyperactive, Unbalance and Kangding Ray. The release features two tracks by Reeko himself, including “Basic Sentence” which is being premiered exclusively by 6AM today.

Q&A: Jonas Kopp & Pfirter Release ‘Seek’ EP on PoleGroup

During Amsterdam Dance Event we took the time to make it to Dockyard, a one-day festival complete with five massive stages housed in tents that sits somewhere between land and water, surrounded by shipping containers and cranes.

One of the stages was being hosted by Spanish techno record label PoleGroup, featuring some of the most exciting raw techno talent that could be found at ADE this year. Artists the caliber of Reeko, Oscar Mulero, Lewis Fautzi as well as Jonas Kopp and Pfirter all put on an impressive display that day, providing festival goers with a slice of hard-hitting techno that was mostly absent elsewhere at Dockyard with the exception of Surgeon and Lady Starlight at the Terminal One stage.

Jonas Kopp and Pfirter are an Argentinian duo that have been around for the better part of two decades now, finding their home in the dark cavern of broody, powerfully-driven techno that has made PoleGroup such a respected label worldwide. Today they are releasing a brand-new split EP entitled Seek, a six track musical journey that begins in space and travels to the dance floor, taking the listener on a trip filled with heavy kicks, profound ambient soundscapes and aggressive 909 sequences. You can stream the release below and find it for purchase via Bandcamp. We briefly caught up with the duo ahead of the release to discuss their work together and the collaborative elements that make them such a successful studio and DJ project.
