S.A.F.: My 5 Favorite Techno Tracks Right Now

S.A.F. (Stamcell Altering Frequency) is the altered ego of Olle Hoolboom, born in 1995. Olle has been influenced musically from a young age. Although most of his family is active in the Opera industry, from the very young age of 8 he dreamt about being an electronic music producer someday, mostly after being inspired by producers like Amon Tobin, LFO and Kryptic Minds.

However, it wasn’t until age 16 when he actually started producing himself. After fully focusing on his productions after High school, his first release took place in February 2014 for the Authentic Pew label. More releases followed on the labels such as TXTRL and Sueño Artificial.

The S.A.F. sound is hard-hitting and distorted, and it has been catching the attention of respected peers everywhere. Most recently, NX1, Isolated Lines, Shawn O’Sullivan, Rommek and Israel Vines have all remixed S.A.F.’s ‘The Hunter’ on Ravage Black Series.

Olle currently just about lives in his studio, with many forthcoming releases in the pipeline. Luckily, he took a quick break from music production to share five tracks he is really enjoying at the moment.

Playlist & Interview: Rodriguez Jr. and Liset Alea Discuss RJLA Collab Project Ahead of Cityfox LIVE Debut

The Rodriguez Jr. & Liset Alea musical partnership arose from a prized encounter between history and destiny. Born from the excitement of a magical cliff-side performance, it’s also the result of 15 years of friendship, and fuelled by the inspiration that comes from two already very successful musical careers. With Liset Alea a former vocalist for Nouvelle Vague, and Rodriguez Jr. an elite club producer fresh from his ‘Baobab’ album, the time was right to unite and discover new horizons together.

The destiny of the new project is one that is guided by emotion, inspired by the spontaneity that comes naturally from two such experienced live performers, and driven by a desire to stretch musical boundaries beyond clinical club beats. RJLA is about sonic storytelling and songwriting, as well as fusing the organic charms of live instrumentation with cutting-edge music for the dancefloor.

The history of the project is one that is already well established. The pair met 15 years ago during their time creating music for Laurent Garnier’s legendary F-Communications, working on several projects together that included music synced on major television series like Entourage and Beverly Hills 90210. Both musicians stand out for the rawness and unpretentious enthusiasm they bring to their live performances.

More recently, the pair came together when Liset helped write several tracks on Rodriguez Jr’s ‘Baobab’ album this year. The collaboration proved so successful that they both knew there was something more to it. All will be unveiled in 2018 with fresh music, international shows and more, beginning with their North American debut at Cityfox LIVE. Known for bringing in some of the brightest talent in the world to NYC, this event will be bringing in a host of never-before-seen b2b sets and audiovisual performances to Brooklyn with a focus on live sets across all acts at Avant Gardner on February 16. Tickets for Cityfox LIVE can be found HERE.

We decided to sit down with both Olivier and Liset to discuss RJLA, and to ask them to provide 10 tracks they feel represent their project and the message of Cityfox LIVE.

Kinnerman Shares 5 Key Influences Behind “Promised Land” Hit Track

When the buzz around a track that only a handful of DJs have is deafening, you know that it’s going to be something special. Dropped into the hands of a select few, including Richy Ahmed, Detlef, Pirupa, Mark Jenkyns, De La Swing, Solardo and Pirate Copy, Kinnerman’s “Promised Land” is turning heads wherever it gets played.

“This track came about so fast to me – well, to be honest, the actual melody I wrote last year when my manager was pushing me for lots of new material but I forgot about it, then I came back to it a few months ago and the track was produced in a couple of hours. It happened so fast and naturally, but I couldn’t stop playing it over and over again, every producer has one of those magic days where anything you do just works perfectly and that was one of those days! Everywhere I play it the crowd go crazy!” – Kinnerman

With releases already on ElRow, VIVa, Origins Rcrds and Glasgow Underground, Kinnerman drops his most accomplished and biggest single to date on Kaluki Musik. Returning to the label with a certified banger that’s already causing a stir within clubland, Kinnerman demonstrates he’s definitely a name to watch.

The track dropped this past September 28th on Kaluki (and is available on Beatport here), a big winter warmer for Kinnerman as it makes its presence known in warehouses and on dancefloors all over.

To celebrate the occasion we asked Kinnerman to share five influences behind his recent work, including “Primised Land.”  Enjoy them below!
