Luke Slater and Ø [Phase] combine for the second release under their RoogUnit guise on Mote-Evolver this April with the ‘Nu Rebels Club’ EP.
In 2020 techno stalwarts Ø [Phase] and Matrixxman took their collaboration up a notch, announcing the birth of Phyxix, and today they take it a step further with their second EP titled Phyxix 002.
The duo began working together behind the decks first, and then took that synergy back to the studio. Their first EP, self-released and titled Phyxix 001, consisted of three powerful tracks featuring both the Detroit influences that have shaped their careers as well as hypnotic elements that drive each track home directly to the dance floor, where they’re intended to be played.
Attendees of a few select festivals in 2019 were lucky enough to witness Ø [Phase] and Matrixxman, two of techno’s most in-demand artists, perform back-to-back. As the two artists gelled behind the decks, they decided to take that chemistry to the studio and form a new project, called Phyxix.
What do you get when you combine two of the best techno artists the UK has to offer? If the two producers in question are Luke Slater and Ø [Phase] then the answer is RoogUnit.
The two artists have combined for a three-track collaborative EP scheduled for release on Mote-Evolver. Titled Mesh, the EP will come out on June 2nd. Ø [Phase] recently remixed Slater’s “Dungeon” and the two have been DJing together during Slater’s Planetary Funk 22 Light Years tour as well as other select dates throughout Europe.
