The SAGA continues as Bedouin, the Brooklyn DJ duo coming hot off their third Ibiza summer and first HEART nightclub residency, are returning to their beloved hometown in Brooklyn this coming Saturday, December 16 for the SAGA debut party in North America. Bedouin Presents SAGA is a collaboration with one of New Yorkâs premier promoters Cityfox, and will take place at the Knockdown Center on the Brooklyn/Queens. Naturally, the event will feature the kind of production and environment both SAGA and Cityfox have become well known for.
âThe summer we just spent in Ibiza hosting our SAGA series at HEART really surpassed anything we could have imagined. The response from both our industry peers and our fans has been truly amazing and overwhelming. Being from Brooklyn, New York is a city that means so much to us and so we couldnât think of a better place than our hometown to recreate the magic of SAGA for the first time outside of Ibiza,â says Bedouinâs Rami Abou-Sabe and Tamer Malki.
NYC Looks To Appoint Night Mayor to Regulate Nightlife and DIY/Warehouse Parties
Following on the footsteps of cities the likes of Amsterdam, Paris and London, New York City is now looking toward appointing a Night Mayor to overlook the metropolis’ nightlife.
New York City Councilman Rafael Espinal began putting together a proposal for legislation that calls for an entire section of local government to protect and manage the nightlife industry.  According to Espinal’s plan the Office Of Nightlife would oversee the regulation of the city’s DIY art and warehouse spaces, and would be the liaison point between City Hall and New York’s bustling $10 billion nightlife economy.
The Office of Nightlife would be overseen by a Night Mayor, in a very similar manner to metropolises in Europe such as Zurich, Amsterdam, Paris and London. With the recent attention on safety and licensing regulation, the city has suffered a loss with regards to the DIY art community. The Night Mayor would come in to oversee, preserve and protect the DIY scene and other smaller-scale venues.

âClub Kid Killerâ Michael Alig Busted For Drug Possession
Some will say that it was inevitable, others will say that it is just a momentary lapse in judgement. The truth remains that today police busted the infamous “Club Kid Killer” for drug possessions right outside Yankee Stadium.
Alig served 17 years for manslaughter in the high-profile 1996 slaying of Andre Melendez, an episode that shocked New York City, the country and ultimately the entirety of the nightlife industry in the United States. Cops spotted him around Joyce Kilmer Park in the Bronx at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Feb 2nd, well past park closing time, and then noticed a pipe hanging out of his pocket. When questioned Alig admitted using it to smoke meth.
Following the police stop, Alig was booked for trespassing and possession of a controlled substance before he was issued a summons and released. The arrest this week came two weeks after he finished his parole, meaning that had it occurred earlier he would have been sent to prison.
Alig was a high-profile club promoter in the ’90s, living a life filled with partying and drugs that ultimately culminated in the gruesome murder and dismemberment of Melendez during a fight over drug debts. The entire NYC nightlife scene of that time and the murder were subject of a documentary called Glory Daze: The Life and Time of Michael Alig, where the  cast of characters who made up the infamous Club Kids speak candidly about that era, culminating with Alig’s release from incarceration. Aligâs drug-fueled life was was dramatized in the 2003 flick âParty Monster.â

Celebrate David Mancuso’s Legacy With This Three Hour Mix
2016 has been a tough year for the music industry in particular. We have lost some of the greatest musicians and members of our scene, the last of which was David Mancuso.
Founder of the iconic Loft in NYC, Mancuso helped shape the nightlife scene we are so proudly a part of today. He passed away yesterday aged 72, running his private party The Loft right up until the time of his death. A true visionary of our industry, Mancuso’s work helped shape the party scene in New York City that went on to influence the rest of the country and, ultimately, the world. His first official “The Loft” party was held on Valentine’s Day in 1970, while the last just this past October 9th. That is 36 years of parties with Mancuso at the help, an unrivaled feat that will most likely not be matched in scope and influence in the near future, if ever.
To celebrate Mancuso’s legacy and life, take a listen to the below three-hour recording from one of his DJ sets at The Loft:
The Cityfox Experience Goes On Despite Weather and Liquor Concerns During the Brooklyn Mirage Opening
For underground house music in New York City and surroundings, today was lined up to be the joyous re-opening of the highly anticipated Brooklyn Mirage, welcomed with a Cityfox Experience lineup boasting Adriatique, Thugfucker, Atish, Frank & Tony, Henrik Schwarz, Matthias Meyer and Bilaliwood.
Clues that various logistics were not cooperating with the party began to surface earlier in the week. Bad weather forecast and the prospect of a rainy day at a mostly outdoor venue had began to dampen the mood. Yet, Cityfox communicated amply through their social network channels that the event was, “rain or shine,” and that, “if outside is untenable, we have an incredible indoor space called The Great Hall that can host.” They went further to specify that, “Indoor space is not crammed, is bigger than outdoors.”
This morning, hours before the event was scheduled to start, Cityfox took to Facebook with a post containing notes for the event. Suddenly the official verbiage changed slightly, the note specifically stating that “The event will be taking place outdoors: currently, there’s a tiny chance of drizzle (though forecasts are improving), and it will be a bit chilly.” They advised to dress warm and noted that to counter-act the bad weather, they had set up a coat check, “heat stations” around the outdoors dance floor and would be giving out free ponchos, hot coco, tea, with other food vendors on site. They did mention an indoor lounge in the adjoining Great Hall, yet set times posted on the note clearly pointed to an outdoor music stage with no music playing inside.
