For over 15 years, Nathan Barato has been a staple of the underground Toronto scene. One of the city’s most prolific exports, the DJ/producer is now responding to global demand for his talents, playing on some of the world’s most esteemed decks.

The RAWthentic owner just wrapped up a hectic summer season comprised of several gigs at Jamie Jones’ renowned Paradise party at DC-10 Ibiza, as well as Spanish powerhouse elrow and a pit stop at Do Not Sleep

Despite a busy tour schedule, the house maestro has found time to hunker down in the studio. This year, Barato released a full album on Hot Creations along with an EP on his own imprint and a new single ‘Funk Police’ with Kevin Knapp via Lee Foss’ Repopulate Mars.

His next move? A powerhouse set at LA’s upcoming City Hearts Festival, the two-day urban rendition of Desert Hearts Festival. Leading up to this weekend’s show at El Pueblo Historical, we got the chance to chat with the well-oiled artist to discuss his recent projects, upcoming plans, and his blossoming bond with the Desert Hearts crew.

Review: Nathan Barato – Everytime I See You EP [Hot Creations]

Nathan Barato’s latest work, ‘Everytime I see you’, is out today via Beatport with remixes by Volkoder and Techno Queen, Nicole Moudaber on the Hot Creation imprint adding yet another stellar label under the Toronto based artist’s belt. The 3 track EP showcases Barato’s versatility as he gets deep and hypnotic while laying his signature bassline to keep the floor grooving. Volkoder’s remix gives it a minimal edge and a perfect track to warm up any floor. The final piece comes no other than Nicole Moudaber as she puts down an infectious drive that truly defines a floor moving techno track. Be sure to grab your copy here.

2013 was truly a defining year for Nathan Barato as Nicole Moudaber claimed him to be the stand out Artist at BPM Festival that season. His signature sound and monster sets caught the ears of Music On head honcho, Marco Carola, and offered Barato a summer residency that has gained him global support, radio features, and countless demand for his production and remix work. 2014 shows no signs of slowing down as Barato relentlessly spreads his sound with shows across Europe, North America, and Asia. This is a name that we will continue to follow as we’re already anticipating his next release.
