Samuel L Session and Van Czar Join Forces On Unrilis

Samuel L Session and Van Czar are fresh from a recent collaboration on Ben Sims’ Hardgroove, and once again join forces for a release on Unrilis. This is a rather special release for Unrilis, as it’s the relaunch of the Rilis project that was originally led by the label’s founder Rino Cerrone. Rino Cerrone is a veteran Italian artist who was highly influential in the ‘90s and early ‘00s and Rilis was a series of vinyl releases that showcased his own music, often allowing him to experiment with new ideas without compromise.

For Ellen Allien, Music Is Her Elixir

Within the techno community there is no doubt that Ellen Allien is one of the most respected djs, producers and label owners out there. Ellen is your favorite DJ’s favorite DJ; the influence to many artists that we look up to today. Her widely successful label Bpitch Control has been a techno taste maker since its inception in 1999. More recently through her Bpitch imprint, Ellen has released part 4-6 of her We Are Not Alone VA- a 36 track compilation of high quality techno that you expect from the label and the artist’s she picks. From having residencies across the world to being one of Berlins biggest acts, she has cemented her presence in the techno realm and is nothing short of legend status.

Rave & Hip-Hop: How Brooklyn DJ Justin Schumacher Found Techno

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY by way of The Bronx, Justin Schumacher is a product of 90s hip-hop and rave culture. After over a decade of hard work and dedication, he has emerged as one of NYC’s most promising talents. His production work continues to gain notoriety in the global techno community with releases and remixes on labels such as Unknown Territory, Ohn-Cet, Italo Business, Dystopian Rhythm, Illegal Alien, and many many more.

Justin Schumacher’s production work remains thought-provoking and intelligent, employing complex fills and slick programming with exceptional sonic construction while still remaining floor-focused and energetic. He applies this same passion and attention to detail in his DJ sets which can span many different moods and grooves depending on the dancefloor he is working on. His love for the music clearly shows when he performs, creating an instant connection with the crowd on the most primal and perennial level.

Rave the Planet Put on an Inaugural Show This Past Weekend

A new iteration of Love Parade, Rave The Planet, went ahead in Berlin this past weekend. The event is described as a “techno-leaning parade similar to the iconic event which last went ahead some 15 years ago.”

In a new chapter for Love Parade, the Berlin-based event went through July 9 – 10 featuring 150 different DJs and several afterparties at venues across the city including Anomalie Art Club and Ost Hafen. Traveling seven kilometers across the capital, the parade kicked off in West Berlin’s KurfĂŒrstendamm to the Großer Stern monument in Tiergarten.

This week’s Guest Mix features the Tbilisi-based music artist AVIVX. His DJ sets oscillate between Chicago house, New Beat, Italo, trance, old and new techno, generating a vortex of playful techno euphoria.

Lately, he has been seen DJing at Berlin’s famous Wilde Renate, Buttons, Ficken3000, Cafe Luzia, Moscow’s Popoff Kitchen, Kazakhstan’s ZVUKm Tbilisi’s Khidi, Drama Bar, and many others.
