Moog Music’s New Documentary Explores Electronic Music’s Beginnings

Legendary synthesizer manufacturer and electronic music innovator Moog Music has launched a new documentary series called Giants. The series aims to explore the legacy of the company and the origins of early electronic music. The first episode of Giants features co-inventor of the Moog modular synthesizer, Herb Deutsch. Deutsch speaks about some of music history’s notable moments and what “the perfect definition” of music is and can be: sound organized in time.

The Moog House of Electronicus: Coming to Los Angeles this Week

Moog Music will be in Los Angeles this week presenting the Moog House Of Electronicus, an electronic pop-up and synth guided exploration of the power of sound. Located on the grounds of the historic Kim Sing Theater in Chinatown, the Moog House Of Electronicus will be open to the public daily from January 24 – 30. Visitors will have the opportunity to get hands on with Moog synths (including the new polyphonic Moog One), and explore the deeper dimensions of sonic experience through interactive sculptural synthesis installations, an immersive audio visualization system, and daily synthesizer workshops led by synthesist Bana Haffar.

The Last Ever Emerson Moog Modular System Will Cost $150,000

The last ever Emerson Moog Modular system is currently being built at Moog headquarters, and will be shown off to the general public at the Sweetwater Gearfest on June 23rd before going on sale for $150,000.

The Emerson Moog Modular System was originally built by Dr. Robert Moog himself in collaboration with famed inventor and composer Keith Emerson. The original took many years to build, and was regarded by experts as the ultimate modular system ever produced. The Moog company worked on building more since, finishing one before this third and last one being worked on right now.
