6AM Guest Mix: Minimono

Minimono was born in Florence in 1997 as a multimedia project involving experimentation through music installations, graphic design and theater performances.

It was only later in 2002 when DJ Fabio Della Torre met rock & ‘n’ roll drummer and electronic producer Ennio Colaci that Minimono became an exclusive and passionate music project, which later also gave birth to their label Boscono Records.

Their intent was to melt their personal music experiences into fresh techno productions with minimal experiments, still keeping a very pleasant funky house touch and combining dancefloor functionality with emphasis on melody and mood.

Digging Deeper with Minimono

Fresh fromĀ releasesĀ on legendary imprints such as Italian labelĀ VibraphoneĀ andĀ Phil Weeks’ RobsoulĀ (alongside their ever impressive work at their ownĀ BosconiĀ label),Ā Fabio Della TorreĀ andĀ Ennio ColaciĀ akaĀ MinimonoĀ join theĀ Inner BalanceĀ family for an EP of four fine house dishes.

Each cut on On The EdgeĀ EPĀ gives us a different taste of classic house, from the sharp Melchior shuffle of “Goblin” to the sweet Rhodes and walkingĀ basslineĀ of title track “On the Edge”, which wouldn’t sound out of place in the Fair Park catalogue. Elsewhere, “Still Alive” is a light confection of soft pads topped with subtle improvisation, while “This Side of the Forest” delivers a moreĀ flavorsomeĀ Sir Lord Commix-style groove.

Check out our exclusive interview with the duo and listen to “On The Edge” below.

Q&A and Premiere: Ennio Colaci Releases “Stereoscope” EP on Berlin’s Dreiklang

“Stereoscope” is Ennio Colaci’s debut on Berlin’s Dreiklang, following the label’s characteristic triangular composition with Tadeo and David Hausdorf remixes completing the EP package. Having had their first release in 2015, Dreiklang marks their third record after releases from Edit Select and Och. It comes from Italian producer Ennio Colaci who produces alongside the owner of Bosconi Records, Fabio Della Torre, under the alias Minimono.

Ennio’s Stereoscope steers away from Minimono’s disco flavored house orientated sounds, bringing a warm palette of textures in the form of soft noise, percs, dubby delayed chords and a sub kick and bass relationship reminiscent of early dub techno records. Alongside the title track there are two remixes from David Hausdorf and Tadeo. Tadeo roughens Stereoscope up and introduces a more techy sound, while David Hausdorf dries up the original, moving the focus to the dub chord.

Stereoscope on Dreiklang is a 180g, vinyl only release surfacing in handcrafted record sleeves by Berlin based artist Nils Altland on the 14th of March 2017. 6AM had a chat with Ennio in honor of the release and premiere of the title track, which you can listen to below.
