A deadly mass shooting has rocked the community of Colorado Springs, Colorado, where police say a 22-year-old gunman entered an LGBTQ nightclub and opened fire.
It is that time once again for Coachella, and preparations are being made by law enforcement and the organizers not only to ensure security but also to prevent any of the mass shooting incidents that have been keeping event organizers world over on their toes.
Security at the event will be increased, with drones to be employed to survey crowds and the festival area, keeping an eye out for anything or anyone suspicious.
It was with the heaviest of hearts that on June 12th the world learned of the mass shooting that took place at Orlando’s Pulse Nightclub, leaving 49 people dead and 53 wounded.
Just over a month later, the non-profit organization OnePulse Foundation has filed documents to gain permission to build a permanent memorial at the nightclub in the memory of the lives lost.
A few days after the shooting, club owner Barbara Poma voiced the idea of planning a memorial, later forming OnePulse on July 7th with a very precise goal: “conceiving, funding and construction of a permanent memorial on the existing Pulse site.”
There is no information yet on when exactly the memorial will be completed unveiled to the public.
