Ahh, the infamous digits 4/20. For some, itās just another date on the calendar, a time on the clock that strikes twice a day, or merely just a silly number to giggle at like a middle schooler with a sharpie in the bathroom stall. But for others, it’s a culture, a community, and a lifestyle- one that prompts you to just simply āblaze it.ā Itās also a holiday, one that begs you to burn trees instead of decorating them. For stoners spread far and wide across the globe, April 20th is a day green lit to consume copious amounts of marijauna as if they werenāt already doing that on the other 364 days in the year. There are many reasons for people to turn to marijuana. Besides the amazing health benefits of cannabis, there are social reasons too. From helping people deal with depression to coping with anxiety, cannabis is becoming a miracle drug. With so many health benefits, it makes you wonder why more people donāt use it. One of the main reasons that some people are wary of marijuana is because they donāt want to get high. Ā But did you know that there is a way of consuming cannabis without the high feeling?
It would have been unthinkable 30 years ago, but as marijuana legalization continues to makeĀ inroads in some form or another in many parts of the world, many businesses are looking at the possible opportunities it offers. This is especially so in the United States, where different states find themselves progressing at differing speed toward full legalization.
One example highlighting this is the recently celebrated cannabis “holiday”, the unofficial celebrationĀ held every April 20th. FortuneĀ reported that it was not just the marijuana business that enjoyed major returnsĀ around that day,Ā but that even other businesses like bars and clubs enjoyed major gains from the celebration of 4/20. In sheer terms of foot traffic, reports show that there was a marked 8% increase among nightlife spots and 36% for liquor stores that day, all directly connected to the holiday.
Today cannabis aficionados and dabblers alike are lighting up in honor of 4/20, the yearly counterculture “holiday” where people gather to celebrate and consume weed. Although unofficial, the celebration has grown and become a mainstay in today’s pop-culture, a “Hallmark Holiday” of sorts that also includes actualĀ events with a definite political agenda that advocates for the legalization of cannabis.
Whether you’re in California, Amsterdam or anywhere else in the world, such as where there are cuban cigars for sale, there’s no argument that cannabis has also become a substance of choice for partygoers around the globe. Ā If you’re partying and aim to stay energized and social while out, picking the right strain goes a long way to ensuring you have a good time. Heavy indicas can be perfect for a TV marathon on the couch, but not quite so much for a festival or nightclub bender until the early hours of the following morning. For that you will need some uplifting sativas and hybrids!
With that in mind, and in honor of 2017’s 4/20 celebration, we have listed 10 weed strains you should consider partying to:
