Premiere: Listen to Ethnikman’s “Aoulouz” Off Forthcoming 18-Track Debut LP “Ahwach”

Ahwach is the debut album from Ethnikman aka Yassine Arrahil. His 18 track opus is a masterfully inventive electronic album that is filled with influences from the worlds of folk and ethnic music, out on July 27th via Symphonic Distribution and available for pre-order now on Juno.

Ethnikman is born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and grew up in Marrakesh, Morocco, surrounded by a unique variety of inspirational sounds that still inspire and influence him to this day. He has previously made hip hop, engineered live events and graduated at the SAE Institute of Rotterdam. An avid collector of old folk LPs and 45rpm records, his quest for forgotten ethnic sounds now comes full circle as he present a whole world of them in this fresh electronic album in an “Ethnic House” style. Each track’s name represents a remote village in Morocco, from which the “Ahwach” of that region preserve their authentic chants, music and performance for centuries.

Q&A and Premiere: AnGy KoRe Releases 13-Track “Clarion” Album on Himmel

This past Monday Italian producer and DJ AnGy KoRe unveiled his latest studio project, a thirteen-track LP released on Himmel entitled Clarion.

Himmel is AnGy KoRe’s own label, which he is introducing to the world with this special release. The album itself is a collection of powerful tracks characterized by strong grooves, distorted percussions and fat bass, mixed with dynamic synths and catchy vocals, all combining to provide a dark atmosphere that aims to break dance floors worldwide. It’s an album with eclectic ideas, that aims to break the normal standard with influences that bring together old school sounds with more modern characteristics, a kind of alternative techno that wants to smash the conventional rules by touching upon and bringing together different shades of electronic music.

From acid sounds to melodic, from hard techno to groovy, all of these tracks are different from one another, each with their own identity and soul. Yet their uniqueness combine to showcase Angelo del Core’s skills in the studio. After all, the veteran Italian artist has remained at the forefront of the industry thanks to decades of hard work and prolificness both as a producer and DJ, just as Clarion demonstrates now.

The album, which was released on May 8th, is available for purchase on Beatport. We are giving you the exclusive streaming premiere of “I Wanna You” from the LP, as well as an interview with Angelo himself. Enjoy!

Q&A and Premiere: Daniel Boon Releases Debut Album “Boon & Bane” on Neuhain Recordings

Boon & Bane is an exciting long player of Berlin techno DJ/Producer, Daniel Boon, a highly intelligent man who likes to think outside the box, creating a unique blend of underground sounds. His long-awaited first album which have been carefully built over the last year, reveals Daniel Boon’s widely rich musical identity through 10 awe-inspiring tracks!

The debut album comes out comes out on his own imprint Neuhain Recordings, a techno label with recent releases from David Ternessi, Crazy
Sonic and Superstrobe. Boon is responsible for numerous parties throughout Berlin in the late ’90s and early to mid 2000s, including club nights at the legendary old Tresor club and the now closed Maria Am Ostbahnhof. Furthermore Boon also founded Ostfunk Records with Oliver Tatsch in 2005 which became one of Berlin’s leading techno labels.

Boon & Bane is an exploration of textures. Each track has its own sonic character whether that’s the growling rumbles in “Fade Array” or the noise explosions in “Inside Symmetry”. The percussion is warm and expertly laid, often within the form of polyrhythms. “Demand Echoes” for example
bleeps in and out while carrying a crunch of a clap which is a welcome theme throughout. The reverse synth percs in Fallback Audio show Boon’s minimalistic calibre while tracks like “Rattle Blade” and “Shadow Forecast’s” vocal-use give rave nostalgia. “Humo Routine” sticks out as a garage house influenced shuffle techno hybrid with a wobble-esque bassline, perfectly giving the middle of the album a breath.

We spoke to Daniel ahead of the forthcoming release, from which we are also premiering “Rattle Blade”

fjaak

Berlin born and raised trio FJAAK are playing Berghain this coming Saturday, a week following their self-titled debut album release that came out just three days ago.

Since their establishment in 2009, Felix Wagner, Aaron Röbig and Kevin Kozicki  have attracted worldwide attention with an alternative and boundary pushing take on classic techno, house and breakbeat. They began to create all types of music made with microphones, guitars and drums in a dark, chaotic and dirty cellar at quite an early age. After getting in touch with the Berlin underground techno scene, days and nights started being all about music. Whether it was chopping beats on the MPC in the morning hours or studying manuals, the internet, vinyl stores and Schneiders Buero. FJAAK also run the international party series called “Machine Vibes” and have in the past released on 50Weapons and Cityslang

Released on Monkeytown Records, the 11-track LP has been made available for streaming on SoundCloud (below) and Spotify, and includes collaborations with Dystopian boss RĂždhåd and Modeselektor. You can purchase digital and vinyl copies of the album via Discogs.

Matthew Dear Releases First Album in Ten Years as Audion: “Alpha”

Audion

He’s back! Audion is set to release his first album in ten years this coming June.

Dear signed up Alpha to Berlin-based imprint !K7 for the release, a shift from most of his previously released LPs that have come out on Spectral Sound. Spectral Sound also hosted Audion’s Audion X compilation back in 2013.

Alpha is naturally techno-focused and contains a total of thirteen tracks. The album’s artwork comes courtesy of Dear’s longtime artist collaborator, Will Calcutt.

The album track “Destroyer” was debuted on the Boiler Room and introduced to SoundCloud with a pretty telling note: “The mind bending “Destroyer” stands out in its warped, cyclical grandeur. Its distorted synth and tenacious bass provides listeners with the full bodied dancefloor flavour they have so eagerly anticipated.”

Bandcamp is offering audio clips of the entire album. Pre-order the album via !K7 here.
