Charlotte de Witte & Enrico Sangiuliano have come together to serve up a very personal remix of “Age Of Love”. The hugely influential self-titled classic by Age Of Love, released in 1990 became an instant dance classic that inspired a whole trance movement that has endured throughout the years.
Two of underground electronic music’s biggest and well-known acts, Carl Cox and Charlotte de Witte, are joining forces for a five-hour live stream event organized by Time Warp and set to take place on May 31st.
German event series Time Warp has been spearheading the techno sound for more than a quarter of a century, and is known for delivering cutting-edge events with impressive production and stacked lineups featuring the who’s who of Techno, House and Minimal.
Neither Carl Cox nor Charlotte de Witte are strangers to Time Warp, but the two artists have never performed together before.
The event coincides with Memorial Day Weekend in the United States, making it ideal for techno fans looking to party safely on the day if clubs and venues in their areas are still closed.

In the age of quick-sharing and fake news, it’s perhaps no surprise that just last week the entire electronic music world was upset when confronted with headlines stating tha,Ā as of October of 2020, Facebook and Instagram were not going to be allowing any more DJ live streams on their platforms due to copyright violations.
The articles did indeed specify that Facebook and Instagram intended to make DJ live streams harder than ever, cracking down on any use of music being live-streamed without a proper license. How did this happen? The social media site had updated its terms of services to make āmusic listeningā live streams a bannable offence.

With festivals, nightclubs, warehouse parties and raves on lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many have turned to “virtual raves” to satisfy their party needs, often choosing to consume drugs at home, even in front of a webcam.
On top of featuring live streams, these “virtual raves” often consist of friends joining video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Google Hangouts and Skype to connect with friends and others while simultaneously watching a live stream of DJs performing during “happy hours” or later at night, replacing traditional nightlife experiences.

2020 has arguably been the most difficult year to date for the music industry. As the Coronavirus pandemic continues to inflict its damage around the world, leaving people jobless, destroying entire industries and forcing us in our homes, our society is also coming to grips with the long-overdue realization that systemic racism and police brutality are interwoven and still prevalent in our lives today. The natural result has been for people to diverge their attention to social media, connecting with loved ones and music through platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, but also live streamsĀ on Twitch and YouTube.
The live music industry has been essentially reduced to nothingness and all events that require a gathering of people, whether related to sport, music or otherwise, have been indefinitely postponed. As event cancellation announcements made the rounds in spring, the electronic music world turned to live streams as a solution. The idea was simple: if dancers can’t go to see their favorite DJ perform live, the DJ was bringing the music to them via streaming.
After all, MUSIC IS THE ANSWER, right?
Electronic music has been a driving force shaping festival culture over the last thirty years, and as the live event world is radically shaken and re-shaped by the Coronavirus, a new Minecraft festival, Electric Blockaloo, is set to define what a festival will look like in 2020.
Electric Blockaloo, produced by Rave Family, will debut on June 25-28 and is a collective effort from some of the biggest names in electronic music. Stage hosts include Diploās Higher Ground, A-Trakās Foolās Gold, Claude VonStrokeās DIRTYBIRD Records, ZHU PRESENTS: BLACKLIZT, and Claptoneās Masquerade, along with label collectives including Desert Hearts as well as Circus Records and Lost Resort Presents: TOKiMONSTAās Young Art Sound. The underground roots of dance music are also well represented with Jamie Jonesā Paradise, bedouin Presents: Saga, Lee Burridgeās All Day I Dream, and Soul Clapās House of E-Funk.
Dance from Home is coming into homes on April 4 starting at 2pm PST via Twitch. The charitable live-stream will benefit artists who’ve been impacted by COVID-19 and provide relief funds.Ā Gene Farris, John Summit, Gawp and NakadiaĀ are a few of the artists scheduled to play. The virtual event partners include PLUS1, Arcade Fire’s charity, and its COVID-19 relief fund. The funds raised will go towards medical expenses, lodging, clothing, food, and other vital living expenses to those impacted due to sickness or loss of work.
