GHEIST Share Their Top Studio Tips

Not even two years have passed since GHEIST first broke through. Fusing that rare narrative alchemy that sings across dance floors universally, they continue to tap into the essence of house and techno with a precision sense of playfulness and poignancy… And turn heads on every occasion.

This return to Sasha’s Last Night On Earth with their Somerset EP is no exception. The follow up to last summer’s Rufos EP, once again it shows the foursome at their most evocative, widescreen and, in the case of “Somerset”, most ardently euphoric. A beautiful tune named after the UK’s most beautiful county, it’s a rolling, break-based evangelizer that endlessly lifts with timeless rising chords and an innocent vibe hat can’t help but take you back to ‘Northern Exposure’-era 90s. “Nuan” offers serious uplift, too. The pay-off from an enduring deep drive, everything is based around the striking, crystalline vocal textures that help turn the track into something you least expect.

Already staples in Sasha’s sets, delivered on the cusp of festival season, hot on the heels of an equally hot Mobilee release: 2018 is shaping up to be a vintage for GHEIST.

We had a chance to talk to the quartet, and asked them for their top studio tips. Read on and soak in the knowledge:

VONDA7 Shares Her Miami Music Week Photo Diary

VONDA7 landed in Berlin following a wavy voyage down from planet techno many BPMs ago. A purveyor of hypnotic grooves, she speaks in synthesized melodies and laughs in heavy basslines that wash over you like what can only be described as a seriously slick musical baptism.

Her talent in the studio, vast record collection and innate ability to shake up the driest of crowds with her diverse eclectic sets is leading to international acclaim. Her prolific debut on Last Night On Earth, Decompression, has acquired some serious heat from BPM to Miami, as well as remixing various artists has assisted in marking her turf on the techno circuit.

We talked to her on the heels of her Together EP return on Last Night on Earth as well as her gig for Sasha’s label during Miami Music Week, and asked her to talk us through some of the highlights of her week in Miami

Premiere: Listen to Rhythm Cult’s Brilliant “Brutal” Forthcoming on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth

Label owners and experienced dance floor smashers, Rhythm Cult‘s Paul Loraine and Richard Seeley have always dedicated their studio uncountable hours to produce the finest and cutting-edge electronic music. But authentic artists, who have another thing in common: they are never satisfied, as if another level was always above them, awaiting to be conquered. Their latest outing, the brilliant Brutal EP on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth is a testament to their studio prowess.

Rhythm Cult is the name where you’ll find Loraine and Seeley’s way to get into this next level, a most clubbing and engaging electronic music is what they’ve been into, a path they’ve taken together for a simple reason: if you want people to really enjoy clubbing, be serious on having fun while producing the tracks they’ll dance to.

We are happy to be hosting the premiere of the title track from the forthcoming EP, which is out on October 6th and available for pre-order on Beatport.

Brutal (is Spanish for excellent or it’s cool) named after Paul’s favorite Italian tapas restaurant in Barcelona called Can Cisa – Bar Brutal) The track was a delve into experimental, leftfield type of house music. After an initial draft it was sent to Richard in the U.K. We generally work remotely in our own studios located in Barcelona ES and London UK. The Brutal (original) track has a dense bed of drums which Paul laid down along with some synth stabs and the grubby acid bass line, live percussion is what Richard recorded and arranged. With some back and forth between LDN and BCN it evolved into the completed EP with the added Dub mix and the excellent Peter Dundov remix. – Rhythm Cult

Premiere: Listen to Audiojack’s “Spirit” Off Forthcoming EP on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth

Audiojack are the Leeds grown, Ibiza based duo who have built a solid reputation over the last decade as DJs, producers, remixers and label curators. Their original releases can be found on leading house and techno labels like Crosstown Rebels, 2020Vision and Hot Creations, as well as Tsuba, Leftroom and Culprit. They have remixed for labels such as Moon Harbour, B-Pitch Control and Diynamic, whilst Underworld, Groove Armada and Hot Since 82 are amongst the artists to have enlisted Audiojack for remixes.

Running their own dancefloor focused label Gruuv for over five years has provided an alternative home for their original music. It was Audiojack’s passion for DJing though which drove their desire to produce music and curate a label in the first place, adding “promoter” to their repertoire in 2015 with the launch of their Sunday Social free party in Ibiza. Held at the intimate Veto club the ethos is aligned with the true spirit of Ibiza. A small place with good music, unannounced guest DJs, no door charge and affordable drinks.

Ejeca Releases a Thumping EP on Sasha’s Last Night on Earth Label

Ejeca

Ejeca has built an impressive discography over the years with quality releases on labels such as 20/20 Vision, Moda Black, and Bpitch Control – but this only scratches the surface for the talented UK producer. With his Avon EP on Sasha’s Last Night on Earth imprint, Ejeca takes us to the center of the madness with proper concoctions of analog goodness and sultry vibes.

Last Night on Earth generally leans towards the progressive spectrum, and while the Avon EP has friendly melodic elements, the main theme to be taken away from the EP is that of pure techno power. The title track, Octiv, is most fitting with the labels sound. A liberal use of delay is used on the percussion sitting lightly in the background as the melodic lead dominates the entire arrangement. From here it’s off to the races – grab your dancing shoes and a bottle of water, because Ejeca holds nothing back from this point on.

BAK2U is a no-nonsense, in your face techno thumper. Sweeping melodic stabs enter the picture, only to fold back into the onslaught of peak time groove. Kelly’s ’95 segways perfectly after BAK2U. Sharp percussion parallels a punchy low end with a classic UK garage feel, but Ejeca does such with a unique twist that gives the track some serious character. Rounding off the EP is Keeperlit. A bouncy and fun take on techno, it’s a well rounded track that will certainly find a place on the dance floor, but the real winners on Avon are Kelly’s ’95 and BAK2U.

Avon EP is available November 6th through Last Night on Earth on Beatport
