This week’s featured Guest Mix artist is Freeman 713 — a DJ/Producer hailing from the hills of Northern California. Real name Trevor Tappe, is based out of Los Angeles and is inspired by the sights and sounds of the early 2000s Hardgroove & Tribal Techno. Freeman 713 pairs Dense Tribal Grooves with High Energy Rave Vibes to create a versatile and potent blend of slamming techno. The sound is heavy and driving while still being groovy, sexy, and endlessly danceable.
Over the past couple of years, Native Boundaries has established itself as a respected curator of parties that push the boundaries of music and fun in the Los Angeles underground scene. For their first EP, they are working with a mix of up-and-coming local L.A. talent and with some well-respected international artists as well.
Following her mau5trap debut with “The One,” Bay Area-native and LA-based artist Wenzday teams up with LA’s underground sensation Bingewatch for their aptly-titled single “Shake.” A track that is sound designed to be a club-ready thrasher. The single is ready for streaming via all platforms.
Also inspired by the fringes of the the Los Angeles underground scene, Bingewatch is a tech-house champion with releases on labels like Sink or Swim, Mixmash, House Call, Medium Rare. He’s also been co-signed from dance music legends like Martin Garrix, Laidback Luke, Dr. Fresch, Lane 8, and many more.
Shadow Wulf Records emerged at the beginning of 2020 as the ferociously dark cub of existing house and techno label Wulfpack. The new sister label was founded by producers Erin Parisi (Crescendoll), Aaron Jacobs, and Drew Blyther when they recognized an opportunity to fill a void in LA’s underground scene. Thanks to Shadow Wulf, the dark techno/minimal sounds more popular overseas have found their place in the den of Southern California. The founders set out to collaborate with producers from around the world and provide a twisted auditory landscape for a global audience.
Minneapolis DJ and producer Berndt will be making his Los Angeles debut this Labor Day at 6AM’s RE/FORM. Minneapolis has a small but strong house and techno community, and Berndt has been keeping it alive and well. Most well-known out of the Minneapolis scene has been techno legend DVS1. When not creating raw, groovy tunes he is working to create fantastic parties with the Kajunga crew. Berndt chatted with 6AM about the underground scene in Minneapolis and his excitement of playing in Los Angeles.
Minimal Effort makes its grand return on Saturday, November 1st featuring a Supernature showcase with Audiofly, Luca Bachetti, Dance Spirit, Droog, Bedouin along with heavy local support by Anton Tumas, Plastic Love, Tara Brooks, and Human Resorces at the secured location of Lot 613.
After taking the Summer off to prepare for what is expected to be the most qualified event for this coming Halloween season; Minimal Effort looks to have another triumphant event that is already gaining momentum with early bird pre-sales being sold out which is a sheer sign this event will be hitting capacity and beyond.
Supernature, the label and concept founded by Audiofly focuses on the deeper and darker side of electronic music often bridging between House & Techno with left-field elements. Lot 613 will be transformed into a mystical, supernatural forest for your exploration and heightening of your senses.
