DJ Couple Turns to Crowdfunding $100,000 to Help Realize Their World Tour Dream

Are they having a laugh?

DJ couple Amberly and Matt are among those with a grand dream that they hope to realize through Kickstarter: to go on a year-long world tour, with stops at places like Ibiza (in Amnesia to be precise), Berlin (in Berghain of all places), Zurich, Rome, Abu Dhabi, Tokyo, Miami, and New York City.

Pretty ambitious goal indeed. What’s even more crazy is the fact that the couple concerned are not even closeĀ to the professional level required to realize those goals as artists. At best, they’re amateur artists who do not have a respectable portfolio to show, save perhaps for the music in their Kickstarter video.

The couple, known collectively asĀ LYTTĀ (after the final two letters of each of their names) wish to raise a total of $108,500 for this planned world tour. In return, they are providing rewards for their backers, depending on the amount they pledge. For instance, aĀ $100 gives backers a download card, t-shirt, sticker, and a signed photo. $500 for a “Greeting Goodie Bag”Ā  which may be the same as the $100 reward plus a keychain and CD, and $7,500 for DJ equipment & lesson, which is more of a video lesson rather than a personal one.

Wheel: A Record Player Without Needle

A record player without needle? It’s 2017 and it seems like even that is possible, as Wheel introduces a minimalistic record player devoid of an external needle arm.

Truth be told, the Wheel player that is being manufactured by Miniot doesn’t look much like a record player at all. Its simplistic approach means that there are no extremities or components beside the base the record sits on.

How does the record play then? Wheel has explained that the vinyl is able to be played thanks to an “invisible” needle that sits below the record, allowing for the vinyl to be exposed with no obstruction. The Wheel can also be hung vertically on a wall as decoration, and can be played while in this position also.

The Wheel will retail for a not-so-modest price of $850 / £806, although those backing the Kickstarter campaign can benefit from a 30% discount. Nearly $160,000 has been pledged thus far, surpassing the original $53,000 goal by leaps and bounds.
