Celebrating AAPI Members of the Electronic Music Industry
6AM and its community is a wonderfully diverse microcosm of various backgrounds that all share the love for dance music. As May is Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, 6AM wanted to bring a spotlight to the AAPI artists and dance music industry members that are contributing to our constantly thriving scene. Even with various obstacles and the unfortunate recent aggression towards Asian Americans since the pandemic, there is still a growing talent pool of AAPI artists and industry figures. Apologies in advance to those who we did not get a chance to include in our list and apologies to those who do not necessarily associate themselves as AAPI.
In no particular order, 6AM wanted to bring you this constantly expanding list of AAPI dance music community members.
Premiere: Juheun Returns to Octopus Recordings with Dystopian “Spacetime” EP Featuring a Black Asteroid Remix
With transistors and fuses glowing all night in his studio, Juheun returns with a blistering dystopian soundscape in the form of his Spacetime EP, with his razor edge synths and hard bass lines striking an unchartered path in our scene.
Octopus RecordingsĀ dialed up Black Asteroid for a remix, and he delivers an industrial, power rave version, grinding the machinery of the original into his own unique electronic signature sound.
Q&A and Global Vibe Radio 052 feat Octopus Recordings’ Juheun
For this week’s edition of Global Vibe Radio we welcome Octopus Recordings’ rising star Juheun.
The techno producer, DJ and live performer, has been making waves in recent years thanks to a hard work ethic in the studio and a touring schedule that has seen him introduce his brand of minimal techno and intriguing basslines to dance floors all around the world. Although not new to the electronic music industry, more recently Juheun has been pushing the boundaries of his own productions and performances byĀ integrating the newest technology and hardware into his sets, creating a dynamic and engaging experience set to his futuristic soundtrack.
With a strong passion for analog gear and the latest music-producing hardware on the market, Juheun spends a lot of time in the studio constantly honing his skills and cultivating an ever-changing sound that stays ahead of the game. His professional outlook to music production and live performance have made him an Octopus Recordings mainstay, his hard work rewarded with EP releasesĀ and label showcase performances under the wing of imprint boss Sian.
