Fragmentor Launches Multimedia Project “Follow The Flow” Focusing On Electronic Music and Nature

Follow The Flow is a multimedia project launched by Fragmentor and Francesco Fondi with a focus on electronic music and nature (botanic, entomology, ethnobotanic, etc). Follow The Flow aims to create audiovisual tools that will help people reconnect with the natural flow of things and “Rediscover Nature Through Technology”, which is also the label’s motto.

Last March VENT, one of the most respected underground clubs in Tokyo, hosted Follow The Flow’s inauguration and release party.

The first Follow The Flow release is produced by Jonas Kopp. Iamik EP is composed of four hypnotic tracks: “Iamik”, “Iamik” (Fragmentor Remix), “Bangua” and “Shasta”.

The first three tracks of the EP mark Follow The Flow’s classy and cutting-edge Techno style. The last track of the EP, “Shasta” is a timeless high quality drone track. The cover photo is curated by the famous Italian photographer Alessio Guarino.

Soma Records Celebrates 25 Years with Daft Punk, Robert Hood, Blawan, Jeff Mills, Andrew Weatherall, Kobosil, Vril and more

There is little to no doubt that Soma Records make the list as one of the most respected techno imprints of today. Label bosses Slam formed the label in the distant 1991 alongside friends Glenn Gibbons and Dave Clarke, and are now celebrating 25 years of operation.

The label made a name for itself in its infant years with a catalog of fantastic music outings, including Slam’s very own timeless “Positive Education” and early career releases from the likes of Surgeon, Envoy, Funk D’Void, Silicone Soul and Alex Smoke. Not many know, for example, that french duo Daft Punk released their first raw music pieces on the label back in 1994.

To celebrate the 25 year milestone, Soma has asked a selection of the world’s finest techno acts to provide fresh brand-new music for a specially curated 15-track Limited Edition 5XVinyl Box Set. Old timers the likes of Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Steve Bicknell, Andrew Weatherall (appearing as Woodleigh Research Facility), Blawan and Adam Beyer were joined by more recent techno newcomers such as Kobosil, VRIL and Jonas Kopp  to select and remix some of Soma’s best back-catalog material for a fresh representation of the role Soma plays in techno today.

Accompanying the brilliant music selection, Soma “decided it was necessary to match the unique musical sensibilities displayed with an artistic environment that clearly juxtaposed the ideas set forth in the project.” The collaboration with Scottish artist Kyle Irvine has resulted in a selection of unique designs crafted specifically for the box set, which also includes exclusive Soma 25 stickers, a poster and illustrated vinyl sleeves.

The box set will be officially released on March 31st.

Track List:

A1. Robert Hood – The Bond We Formed
A2. Jeff Mills – A Tale From the Parallel Universe
B1. Daft Punk – Drive (Slam Modular Interpretation)
B2. Adam Beyer – Just Things

During Amsterdam Dance Event we took the time to make it to Dockyard, a one-day festival complete with five massive stages housed in tents that sits somewhere between land and water, surrounded by shipping containers and cranes.

One of the stages was being hosted by Spanish techno record label PoleGroup, featuring some of the most exciting raw techno talent that could be found at ADE this year. Artists the caliber of Reeko, Oscar Mulero, Lewis Fautzi as well as Jonas Kopp and Pfirter all put on an impressive display that day, providing festival goers with a slice of hard-hitting techno that was mostly absent elsewhere at Dockyard with the exception of Surgeon and Lady Starlight at the Terminal One stage.

Jonas Kopp and Pfirter are an Argentinian duo that have been around for the better part of two decades now, finding their home in the dark cavern of broody, powerfully-driven techno that has made PoleGroup such a respected label worldwide. Today they are releasing a brand-new split EP entitled Seek, a six track musical journey that begins in space and travels to the dance floor, taking the listener on a trip filled with heavy kicks, profound ambient soundscapes and aggressive 909 sequences. You can stream the release below and find it for purchase via Bandcamp. We briefly caught up with the duo ahead of the release to discuss their work together and the collaborative elements that make them such a successful studio and DJ project.
