Premiere: Luca Marchese Debuts on Intec Digital with “Breaking Silence” EP

Carl Cox is an industry figurehead who’s legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell, and the new release is a label debut from Luca Marchese.

Featuring on Intec for the first time, Luca Marchese is a young talent who has already proven himself making many notable releases on labels including Respekt, Kraftek, Phobiq, Tronic and AnalyticTrail.

Having spent many years DJing locally in his hometown of Caserta in Italy, the success of his productions has led to him starting to get international bookings in places such as Germany.

Still a young artist at the start of his career he has already made many high profile achievements, and this EP is another stepping stone towards his ascendance through the world of techno.

Along with Carl Cox other fans of Luca Marchese’s music include Tale Of Us, Joseph Capriati and Maceo Plex along with many others of equal respect.

“Alien Biosymmetry” starts off proceedings with thrashing percussion and enchanted vocal snippets the lead to the euphoria of the main breakdown, before the throbbing acid-line and kick drum lift things up a gear to devastating effect.

Next up “Breaking Silence” has a brooding tension that swells up from the low-end frequencies of the bassline. Squelching stabs and analogue pops give driving force to the fast-flowing rhythms that reach critical mass with an explosion of relentless energy.

Q&A: Jon Rundell Explains Why He Switched To Free Streaming to Democratize Music Sharing

Jon Rundell‘s new release “Poetry” marks a controversial new direction for the British producer, DJ and label owner, as he seeks to challenging the status quo by giving away his music and the individual parts to them for free.

The moves is complete counter-current to the way the industry has been operating for years. Rundell has decided enough is enough. Increasingly frustrated with the underground music industry’s general resistance to change across the board, he’s decided to ditch the traditional DJ-only focused way of releasing music for multi-platform streaming, ensuring free to listen (in both senses) access to his tracks and even encouraging remixing in fans’ bedrooms across the world by releasing individual parts to this new track.

How? Rundell has decided to revive his own ETCH label to release a brand new single entitle “Poetry,” the first of a series that will see the label churn out tracks that will go straight to Soundcloud, Spotify and Youtube. Each track will be available for free download on SoundCloud, with its parts also available for download to make it easier for aspiring & professional producers to remix it or do whatever they want with them. Eventually, Rundell plans to keep an eye open for anything that may stand out to him from the result of his project and, if appropriate, release it in the same way on the label.

Rundell has been around for years, and this is in a way how he has decided to give back to the younger demographic of dance music fans that he knows have been coming out to party and dance to his music.

6AM caught up with the producer to get more details about the project and how it came about.

Premiere: Listen to Carbon Electra & Olly Davis’ “Funk Me” Out On Intec Digital

Carl Cox is an industry figurehead who’s legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell.

Following recent releases from the likes of Boris, Darren Emerson, Cristian Varela and Tomy DeClerque, this new collaborative EP presents Olly Davis and Carbon Electra.

From a young age Northern Ireland born Olly Davis had a fascination with rhythm and grew up playing the Irish Bodhran Drum. Getting older, he soon discovered electronic music and his love of percussion translated well into the sequenced loop of a drum machine. Picking up DJ residencies and playing for nights such as Defected In The House, Cream, and Ministry Of Sound, Olly has supported some of the world’s biggest DJ’s including Carl Cox who has signed him to Intec after spotting his talent both behind the decks and in the studio.

Olly, who now lives in Australia, has previously released on Rawsum, Hausity, Witty Tunes, plus Sam Devine’s label D-Vine Sounds. This collaboration with Carbon Electra showcases why Carl Cox considers him to be such a talent. Carbon Electra is a secretive artist making their debut release with this stunning collaborative EP.
