Krafted Underground’s Deep Tech Los Angles Volume 2 – The Los Angeles Underground Speaks

Deep Tech Los Angeles (DTLA) is a collective of underground house producers from Los Angeles, all striving to build a grassroots movement of music, radio and events.

Established by Jason Trevor Miller aka Redux Saints, the first US graduate of the Toolroom Academy programme, DTLA aims to provide a medium for LA based producers to be heard through organizing Deep Tech Los Angeles compilations. DTLA Volume 1 peaked at #1 for Minimal/Deep Tech and #10 for Progressive house on the Beatport album charts. Volume One also gained massive support such as Mark Knight, Friend Within, Walker & Royce, Sirus Hood, Riva Star and Henry Saiz as well as others. Krafted Underground brings you the second installment looking to reach new milestones with impressive new comers to the collective.

DTLA Volume 2; released on Krafted Underground and available for pre-order via Beatport, showcases the deep, techy and progressive sounds that DTLA stands for, featuring tracks from some of LA underground scene stalwarts Redux Saints, Shanto, Contessa, Andy Slate, Lok N Key, P-LASK, 28mm, Thomas Garcia, and newcomers to the collective Anakim, Teddy Wong Juany Bravo, Jaime Narvaez, DMorseand PABLoKEY.

We sat down with Jason to talk about the project and learn more about Deep Tech Los Angeles, Krafted, the upcoming compilation and more.

Digging Deeper with Mark Alow

Mark Alow is a young producer and DJ from Spain, without a question one of the emerging talents to keep an eye on.

His sound moves seamlessly between the rocky peaks of techno and house, while remaining cosmopolite, yet danceable. His call is to provoke motion from a solid and serious proposal. A soft but addictive groove, almost like velvet, and very organic; deep basslines are the ones that set the path to follow, a highly electronic leitmotiv in which emotion is the key; as well as falling into some sort of synthetic reverie, that drives us towards that magical state, in which consciousness is lost: there is no time, no space, only sounds.

Mark has released music on imprints like Akbal Music, Baile Musik, Little Helpers, Innocen Music and more. As a DJ, his commitment is quite similar to what he does as producer: elegant, urban, pulsing but punching, very danceable and always surprising sets.

We caught up with him to find out what gets him ticking.

Moscoman Talks About His New EP on Disco Halal and The Influence Israel Has On His Music

Moscoman is just about to release his new EP I Ran on his imprint Disco Halal, the label with which he has been flying the flag for middle-eastern flavored disco and house for the past three years, releasing standout albums and EPs from the likes of DJ Tennis, Autarkic, Simple Symmetry, Naduve and more.
A patented dance floor scorcher, “I Ran” sees Middle-eastern vocals thread their way through a lofty percussive blend, simmering up a psychedelic energy which will be turning dance-floors upside down for times to come. On the flip, trusty Disco Halal comrades Simple Symmetry, the duo responsible for ‘Voodoo Your Ex’, one of 2017’s most rinsed anthems, spin “I Ran” into a chugging guitar anthem, all in cinematic twist and turns.
Moscoman has also announced his upcoming European tour which will see him play throughout the UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany and further afield. 2017 was very much the year he exploded on a global scale with multiple US tours, festival slots at Glastonbury, Primavera, Melt, Farr, Exit, Love International, Lente Kabinet and the launch of his label Treisar through which he released an EP of his own productions every month.
6AM had a chat with the traveling man to discuss the release, his label and the influence his roots have on his musical output.

Digging Deeper with Ekkohaus

Berlin-based, Greek in origin DJ/Producer Ekkohaus has been making waves ever since he landed on the scene. Over the years, Kostas has held residencies across Europe, in Greece, London and Berlin. He has performed at festivals, art exhibitions and fashion shows. He’s a trained musician who’s not afraid to stray away from the traditional boundaries of house and techno.

His new EP, E For Ekko, is dropping on March 14. Featuring four tracks, E For Ekko brilliantly exemplifies Ekkohaus’ passion for out there sounds and pushing the envelope. The release perfectly captures Ekkohaus’ constant search for new and innovative sounds. An aptly titled release, the release is filled with the echoes and memories of different sounds. “Dub Accent” opens up the EP with some dubbed out techno. The dissolving, reverbed chords ricochet back and forth through your mind, pulling you down into the music. “Dub Accent” has all the markings of a Berlin classic, heavily influenced the Ekkohaus’ surroundings. The track sets the scene around which the whole EP unfolds.

We spoke to Ekkohaus recently about how environments affect music, his approach to music and much more.

Q&A and Premiere: Benny Bridges Releases First Solo EP on Fantastic Voyage Entitled “New Places”

We have seen Benny Bridges‘ name before when he has been working alongside Dirtybird’s Justin Jay as his traveling guitarist, and their resume together is pretty stellar.

Now it’s the turn of Bridge’s first EP entitled New Places, from which we are premiering “Are You Ok”

“Benny Bridges is more than just a guitar player. On his first solo EP, Ben sets his unique voice as a singer/songwriter on top of raw, underproduced house beats. These songs work in the clubs despite their nontraditional forms and arrangements. Warning: you may strike an emotional chord with the audience by playing these songs <3” – Justin Jay
