Iran is facing the first-ever women’s revolution in its history, started by the death of Mahsa Amini on September 16th, 2022. Since then, people in Iran have shown tremendous bravery, risking their lives on the streets, fighting their violent dictatorial regime, and seeking basic human rights and freedom. By now, the regime has responded to the protesters with pure cruelty. Thousands have been arrested or killed, disappeared having critical medical conditions, brutally tortured in jails, and sentenced to the death penalty without any court cases or support from international organizations. A nation of 8 million citizens & over 4,000 years of history needs our international support right now.

Survey Shows Festival Bookings for Female-Artists Have Tripled Since 2012

female:pressure has released its FACTS 2022 survey, looking at the gender balance of electronic music festival lineups. First published in 2013, this year marks the fifth edition of the study, which was updated in 2015, 2017 and 2020. In order to collect the results, members of female:pressure and festival organizers looked at 159 editions of 109 unique festivals that took place between 2020 and 2021.

Recognizing that women are an integral part of the dance music scene, Beatport and Maya Jane Coles are celebrating Women’s History Month with a host of special programming. Fans will be treated to a residency from the famed London DJ and producer;  re-streaming of DJ sets by amazing women; live Q&A sessions with artists; a Bass live stream; and a Beatportal feature highlighting the Women of Beatport.
