OBSERVE: A New Techno Beginning in Los Angeles Starting November 24th

For the last 15 years, Droid Behavior and their INTERFACE event series have become synonymous with Los Angeles’ now-thriving techno scene.

There is no doubt that the two brands have been at the forefront of the LA techno world, pushing a sound that was once widely rejected in the city. The team built something great out of nothing, pouring blood, sweat and tears to overcome obstacles, doubters and resistance to build a foundation upon which all techno events in Los Angeles have been built since.

At 6AM we recognize the crucial role INTERFACE events have had in the creating of the techno scene in this city, a scene which makes it possible for us to contribute with our own events today. In fact, most of us at 6AM can directly pinpoint to the exact INTERFACE event that set us down this techno road we are still enjoying today. For us, it was these events that directly lead us to fall in love with techno and, as a result, want to work in this industry.

As drumcell and Truncate announced today via social media, while Droid currently remains dormant for an unforeseeable future, a portion of the crew behind those revolutionary events has decided to move forward with a new vision and a new project: OBSERVE.

Founded by Drumcell and brothers Raiz, Droid Behavior was started 15 years ago in Los Angeles as the underground warehouse event Interface featuring techno luminaries from around the globe, often for their USA debut (including Speedy J, Sandwell District, Surgeon, Ben Klock, Marcell Dettmann, Chris Leibing, Vexx’d), in addition to residents Drumcell, Raiz, Truncate and Oktaform (Droid/Timewarp/Hyte) on visuals. Soon followed a record label featuring releases from its residents and friends, including Dustin Zahn, DJ Hyperactive, Flug, Luis Flores, and Kyle Geiger.

Since it’s inception, Droid ha garnered a global fan base thanks to its quality audio and visual production, unique venues and packaging, well-curated bookings, and an overall vibe that remains unique in the States. As such, Interface and DROID nights have hit some of the world’s most prestigious clubs and music festivals as follows – Movement in Detroit 9 times, ADE in Amsterdam three times, Berghain in Berlin three times, Output in New York four times, Stereo in Montreal, Concrete in Paris, Village Underground in London, Nitsa in Barcelona, Ampere in Antwerp, Sound Department in Taranto, Lehman Club in Stuttgart, Decibel Fest in Seattle, and Great Northern in SF.

On Saturday November 25th, a week from the launch of this giveaway, Interface returns for its yearly appointment with the Los Angeles underground. For the occasion the party will start at 10pm and go until 12pm of the following day, calling for the quality and unique styles of its residents and local favorites, as well as special guests Steve Bicknell and DJ Deep.
