Start of building of the room in a room
The whole floor construction stands on 10mm neoprene rubber. Nothing is touching the walls. Decoupling the studio room is the big task.

Double-layered wood floor. In-between a soft layer to absorb additional sound-energy. The framework beneath is filled with insulation.
Starting with the framework for the wall segments which will have a soundproofing gypsum layer on the outside and the inside.

The wall segments with outside gypsum were mounted on the outer frame of the floor.
All around, there is a gap of an inch between the brick-work
walls of the house and the drywalls of the studio. That means the segments
don't touch the outside walls. In this way, you prevent direct sound
transmission through the walls of your house. The drywalls are about 4
inches thick. But they should be as thick as possible. In our case we had to
find a compromise between thickness and room space.
The holes for the ventilation system have been made.
The studio ceiling structure is laying on the dry-wall framework and is secured to the concrete ceiling with decoupled attachments without any stiff connection.

After the rest of the framework was done, we filled it with rock-wool and covered it with foil - preventing air moisture to get into it.
The inner gypsum layer was mounted on the framework and plastered after that.
The Walls were painted and the floor got it's carpeting.
All soundproofing work for your walls, floor and ceiling is worthless without the right doors to complete the separation of the room within the room.
Sound-proof balcony doors were attached. A good alternative to heavy
soundproof standard-doors or double doors, which can be expensive when
customized.

The silencers for the ventilation system.
One for outgoing and one for
ingoing air. The inside got covered with absorbing materials. Air is
compelled to follow a winding way and loses sound energy by running into
absorbers in every turn.

Above pictures show the step-by-step guide of how Inpetto built their home studio
Inpetto are a brotherly duo from Germany with a long history in the world of dance music production and DJing. Making up two thirds of the act Fragma they scored big hits like âTocaâs Miracleâ back in the 90’s. Their album, âTocaâ, proved they were no one-hit wonders yielding further hits including the top five singles âEverytime You Need Meâ and âYou Are Aliveâ with more than 2 million records sold worldwide.
The boys have a level of consistency that have made them a clear favorite amongst their peers, with support from Axwell, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond, Paul van Dyk and more elevating them to critical acclaim as producers, remixers and DJs. Since producing their own tunes has always been their strongest asset, unlike so many other producers these days, we decided to ask them how they built their home studio, which they recently finished construction on.
