From releases on monster labels such as Innervisions and Bedrock to remixing everyone from Underworld to Moby, there is no doubt that LA based producer and DJ Eagles & Butteflies has caused quite the stir in the last 12 months.

Chris Barratt, as he is known to family and friends, does it all: from downtempo to techno to house, we have seen him rise up the ranks to become one of the most respected and sought-after talents of the moment. Spreading his wing beyond Los Angeles and the United States, he has landed on coveted lineups at the likes of Circoloco at DC-10, Awakenings, Sacred Ground, Secret Garden Party, The BPM Festival and Watergate Berlin, just to name a few.

This coming summer his voyage is taking him to The Ark Festival, a brand-new and massive cruise festival that will host 4000 people and 1400 crew members in total on Royal Caribbean’s immense ship: Freedom Of The Seas. From August 31st until September 3rd of this year, the ship will start off in Barcelona, sailing further to Marseille, Ibiza and a final return back to Barcelona, covering four days and three nights of wonder for a lifetime memory.

There, Chris will perform alongside a lineup full of techno and house A-listers such as Belgian brothers 2MANYDJs, Cocoon label head Sven VĂ€th, Studio Barnhus frontman Axel Boman, Radio 1’s B.Traits, CLR techno chief Chris Liebing, French house pioneers Cassius, the legendary house pioneer Felix Da Housecat, Hot Creations partner Richy Ahmed and Innervisions man Henrik Schwarz and Irish techno talent Matador, both with a live performance.

We caught up with Chris while on the road to summarize his past year and look forward to what’s in store for the future, including this incredible one-of-a-kind cruise festival he will be a part of in September.

PL0T Miami Celebrates 10 Years of Cutting-Edge Underground Electronic Music Events

Ten years is an eternity when it comes to electronic music event brands. It is rare for clubs to stay open that long, so for an individual party brand to be able to stand the test of time and break the decade mark is a testament to the quality of their programming and overall party curation.

This Saturday, March 18th, PL0T Miami is celebrating their 10 year milestone with a special event at The Electrick Pickle in Downtown Miami. For the special occasion, the party curator has organized a lineup featuring none other than Innervisions extraordinaire Âme, label-mate Marcus Worgull and the Miami debut of Moscoman.

6AM spoke to Rebeca Lange, the founder and head of Unreal MGMT, the company behind the PL0T brand, ahead of the 12-hour soiree planned this weekend:

Music Monday: Listen to Âme Go Back-To-Back With RØDHÅD at DGTL Barcelona

Musically speaking, many were intrigued when they saw Tale Of Us’ Afterlife party booked Âme and RØDHÅD for a back-to-back performance during this past Amsterdam Dance Event.

Innervisions’ Âme are better known for their transcendental soundscapes, often incorporating deconstructed orchestral instrumentation, vintage synth tones and intriguing vocal samples. RØDHÅD’s name, on the other hand, has become synonymous with the deeper, powerful and more melancholic sounds of techno.

The two were also recently paired up during DGTL Barcelona, with their set recorded and now available for your listening please divided into two distinct parts:

Watch a Mini-Documentary Featuring Dixon and Âme’s Innervisions Imprint

Ame Dixon

Smirnoff Sound Collective is giving fans an exclusive look into one of the most respected labels in the underground dance music world: Innervisions.

The German label, co-founded by Steffen Berkhahn, a.k.a Dixon, and Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann of Âme, has been paving the way as one of the most respected imprints in the world thanks to signature dreamy and mesmerizing releases from some of the most respected producers in the scene.

The mini-documentary features some exclusive footage including from Amsterdam’s Woodstock ’69 where Dixon and Âme performed b2b all day, Wiedemann diving into the label’s work and chilling with label newcomer Aera at the office in Berlin, as well as discussions on how to run a label of success such as Innervisions. The information revealed is particularly interesting for a label that counts three major producers and DJs at the helm, but it does a great job in describing how compromising and finding common ground has been key in pushing Innervisions to high levels of success in the 11 years of its existence.

The documentary comes following a recent revelation, via Dixon’s take-over of Resident Advisor’s Instagram, that fans can expect forthcoming albums from Âme and Schwarzmann in 2017.

Culprit & Innervisions Team Up For Two Shows in Los Angeles

Ame Scwarz

Everyone loves a good collaboration, and when it comes to labels working together it hardly gets better than what Los Angeles is about to witness.

The minds behind Culprit and Innnervisions have joined forces to give LA two distinctive nights of quality music, showcasing Henrik Schwarz first and Âme later with support from Culprit’s DJ collective Droog.

Set a fortnight apart, the two events will take place at Lot 613 in Downtown LA. On July 9th it will be the turn of Schwarz to bring his incredible Live set-up to the warehouse-like venue for only the second time in the past 6 years.

Then, on July 22nd, attendees will witness Kristian Beyer taking over the decks to represent the mighty Âme duo, who, along with Dixon are the founding fathers of Germany’s Innervisions imprint. His Live performance last July was one of the most memorable and energetic nights of the year, making this one of the most anticipated returns of the summer.

Culprit’s double-header for Prototype comes with unmistakeable influence on the night’s music program. As expected, the label’s own Droog trio will be providing perfect support to kick-start each night.
