Illegal Rave Was Held 21-Hours, Ravers Say They Were ‘Just Having a Bit of Cake’

Over 1,000 illegal ravers took to Dorset’s Lulworth this weekend, which has since jokingly been compared to the Partygate scandal, in defense of the all-night ravers. The day-long event began in the early hours of Easter Sunday when ravers descended upon Lulworth Ranges in southeast Dorset which was subsequently shut down some 21 hours later by police.

Police Use Extreme Force to Shut Down Illegal Rave in Welsh Town

An illegal rave in the small Welsh town of Llandovery brought together hundreds of people over the weekend, ending only after police were given extra force to break up the event, South Wales Guardian reports. The illegal rave reportedly began on Saturday and continued until the afternoon of Sunday, March 27th.

Regarding the illegal party, Inspector Dawn Fencott-Price expressed, “social media was used to disclose the location at the last possible minute in order to prevent law enforcement taking preventative measures.”

As Paris sees a rise in COVID-19 cases, the French capital is closing bars again to help curve the spike, especially among a younger demographic. In August, both Italy and Spain faced a similar situation, closing nightclubs due to a wave of COVID-19 outbreaks. While health authorities blamed holidays and those vacationing, COVID-19 continues to confound officials and communities around the world.  The pandemic’s “hotspots” continue to change as well as the age group it affects. “These are braking measures because the epidemic is moving too fast,” police chief Didier Lallement said during a press conference on Monday. “We have to slow it down so that our health system is not overwhelmed.”
