Last year we fooled the world with an April Fools article announcing a Sasha and John Digweed reunion tour. Later that week we turned out to be modern-day Nostradamus when the duo announced their Social UK gig for later in the year, a prelude of what has now become a reality: Sasha and John Digweed are embarking on a worldwide tour together.
The two iconic musicians have already announced joint sets in the past few months, such as at EDC Mexico and the upcoming Ultra Music Festival in Miami. Now, the two producers have revealed their plans for the RESISTANCE Worldwide Ultra Tour, a journey that will see them travel to several key world destinations as well as appear six times at Privilege Ibiza for Ultra’a Resistance brand’s first ever residency on the island.

Eric Prydz is returning to the White Island this summer, this time for a ten-week residency at the brand new Hï Ibiza which has taken over the building previously occupied by Space.
The Playa d’en Bossa nightclub is scheduled to open its doors this summer, aiming to continue to bring more “underground” acts to the repurposed space while also adopting more of the VIP signature lifestyle that characterizes the events that take place across the street at UshuaĂŻa. Both venues are now owned by UshuaĂŻa Entertainment, which explains the programming direction that HĂŻ is taking in confirming residencies that so far include Black Coffee and Martin Garrix just to name two.
Today Eric Prydz confirmed he will be taking over the club for ten consecutive weeks between the 20th of June and the 22nd of August. The residency, which is Eric’s first ever in Ibiza, will allow his team to use the club’s blank canvas to work their magic, building a site specific show for the residency, creating a unique stage for Eric to present his inimitable blend of house and techno across his Pryda and Cirez D aliases. The Prydz residency will bring a singular visual and audio experience to the Ibiza season.
“HĂŻ offered us a unique opportunity to go into a new club, with a blank canvas to build something special, and very unique without existing limitations. For my debut Ibiza residency I wanted a platform to do things on my own terms, inviting the artists I want to host, in a space that we are creating” – Eric Prydz.
Eric will be joined by old and new friends with Matthew Dear, Kölsch, Pig & Dan, Agoria, Catz ‘N Dogz, Tube & Berger, Dusky and more all confirmed to join him throughout the ten-week takeover.

The moment we all knew was coming is finally here. The UshuaĂŻa Entertainment Group has unveiled information about the new club that will be taking place of the former Space Ibiza.
HĂŻ is set to open its doors this coming season, located in Playa d’en Bossa across UshuaĂŻa, aiming to “bring together music lovers to dance, discover and experience the magic of the White Isle.”

Although rumors and speculation seem to indicate that HĂŻ will follow UshuaĂŻa’s footsteps in becoming a venue that caters to Ibiza’s growing VIP crowd while also serving a slice of underground dance music residencies, the venue is yet to announce its DJ residencies for 2017.

If you thought the Carl Cox era in Ibiza was over you were definitely mistaken!
The iconic producer may have ended his Music Is Revolution residency by timing it with Space Ibiza’s closure last summer, but his parties on the island are far from over. Although we had already reported on Carl’s plans to play guest sets at several parties throughout the island, such as Circoloco at DC-10 or for his friend Marco Carola’s Music On series, he has now announced two PURE CARL COX events at Privilege Ibiza.
Carl Cox will be back for a series of special shows under the PURE CARL COX banner, starting on Tuesday 11th and Tuesday 18th July. Carl himself talked about the upcoming shows, “Iâm really looking forward to getting back to Ibiza and to kicking off these special events with my awesome team from Space, Dave Browning, EĂłin Smyth and the Game Over crew, and boy, have we got some parties lined up for you this year.  Starting with two parties at Privilege, I will be bringing my PURE festival vibes from Australia to the Main Room with a full techno and house line up. I cannot wait to rock this club. See you on the dancefloor⊠Carl :-)”
Privilege, recognized by the Guinness book of records as the biggest club in the world, was the natural choice as our new home after the sadness over the closing of Space subsided. Having housed many legendary events over the past 20 years, Privilege is going through a full re-fit including a Funktion One sound-system update that promises to make it one of the best in the World.  The club boasts a main room of epic proportions and plenty of other rooms to sample so they are perfectly primed for the return of the âKing Of Ibiza’.

Ibiza, often hailed as the Mecca of dance music and club culture, has seen a number of setbacks. The infamous island has always enjoyed a reputation as a hedonist paradise, with hundreds of thousands of tourists flocking annually for a summer of round-the-clock partying. Carl Cox recently lamented on the effects the closure of Space in an interview with Mixmag. Cox, who saw his 15-year residency at Space end this season, explained that Ibiza’s rising prices are beginning to prohibit summer partiers from vacationing there.
As the man himself puts it, “It’s slipping… The crown of that [being number one] is slipping. I just think when you have something so good for so long, if youâre up the top, the only way you can go is down.” He continues, “Ibizaâs become so expensive for everybody. The taxis are expensive, the hire cars are expensive, the restaurants are expensive, getting into certain nightclubs is expensive. If youâre not rich, no one can afford to have a really good time anymore like you used to in the old days.”
The beloved Carl then mentions Romania and Croatia as premiere up-and-coming party destinations, noting that crowds of clubbers will travel wherever their favorite artists are performing, enjoying the “mystery” of traveling to new places and navigating an unfamiliar scene. He adds, “Ibizaâs not like that anymore. You know exactly what nights are happening and the DJs [that are playing]. You come out of it and think âJesus, Iâve spent all that money and, actually, the night wasn’t that great.'”
Sadly, the veteran DJ will not take any Ibiza residency in the future although he still plans to play guest sets at a select number of venues such as Amnesia for Marco Carola’s Music On and DC-10 for Circoloco. Carl added that he is confident Ibiza will eventually turn a corner when UshuaĂŻa fully takes over the location previously occipied by Space, adding that “the new kings will emerge”.Click here to read the full interview

BURNÂ recently went through a journey to discover emerging talent in the world of dance music through a BURN Residency 2016 program that received over 9.000 applications.
With applicants spanning 26 countries, a DJ from each was chosen to attend the BURN Bootcamp to participate in lectures, workshops and DJ classes ran by some of the most influential and skilled artists in today’s dance music world such as Carl Cox, Seth Troxler, John Digweed and Luciano.
Three finalists, Mira Joo, Ayman Awad and Lollino, were picked from this group of 26 for a 10-week Ibiza residency with gigs at Sankeys and Bora Bora included. Lollino eventually won the âŹ100,000 grand prize, coming out as the winner of the Residency program.
As part of the Residency initiative, BURN has released three separate documentaries profiling the art of the resident DJ, a series we began to explore with Paris’ Rex Club resident D’Julz, one of the best selectors the house music scene has to offer.
The first mini-documentary is called âThe Creatorâ and focuses on Carl Cox’s meteoric rise in Ibiza and his 15 year Music Is Revolution residency at Space that just ended this past summer. The idea behind this first video is to highlight one of the most prominent residencies in the world by an artist still in circulation, albeit one that has just come to an end.
âThe Movementâ looks at the ascent of a new series of top-tier names in underground dance music, developing on the paths taken by Seth Troxler, The Martinez Brothers and Apollonia in reaching the success they have achieved thus far.
âThe Futureâ decides to look at ahead, as the name might suggest, by exploring the next generation of artists and prospective residents with input from BURN mentors Carl Cox, Dubfire and Uner, as well as other key industry figures.

This past summer Sven VĂ€th celebrated Cocoon‘s 17th consecutive year in Ibiza. The record-label and party series calls Amnesia its home on Monday nights and hosts some of the most celebrated names in techno, minimal and house.
This summer Amnesia has faced increased difficulties with local officials, first at the hand of police investigating the club for tax fraud as part of Operation Chopin, and then for parties going past approved finished time. The venue’s owner, Martin Ferrer, and three workers including his son were arrested and then released on bail as part of the ongoing investigation that has now uncovered over âŹ2 million in cash hidden at the club and in various deposit boxes belonging to Ferrer.

Amnesia Ibiza owner Martin Ferrer, following his arrest earlier in the summer as part of a country-wide federal tax investigation, has just had over âŹ300k cash seized from him by local Ibiza officials.
The cash seizure, which occurred from security boxes at several of the island’s banks, is the latest development of a tax fraud and money laundering police probe that has seen most of the island’s clubs targeted as well as tens of others on the Spanish mainland. In early July agents raided the San Rafael club, arrested Ferrer, his son and two other employees while confiscating roughly âŹ2 million in cash found hidden inside the venue.
Space Ibiza has released a documentary chronicling 27 years of history at the iconic Balearic club.
Produced in-house, the 50-minute video takes viewers on a historic through of milestones that have characterized the venue from its conception until yesterday, its final day. The Closing Fiesta was attended by tens of thousands, with nearly 100 artists playing across several stages. You can re-watch videos from the live stream here.
