ARC Music Festival will debut on Labor Day Weekend in Chicagoās Union Park, and with it they present a lineup that blends the more underground sounds of electronic music, with a focus on Chicago House, well-known big room Techno names and genre-blurring Electronica artists.
Itās not easy to find success in a niche genre of music, especially when itās in its earliest stages. This was precisely the case with Gene Farris in the 1990s, when the sounds of a mysterious new type of āhouseā music had begun rising out of the underground of his native Chicago. Inspired by this radical new sound, his path was clear: he was meant to live a life bringing it to the masses.
Dance from Home is coming into homes on April 4 starting at 2pm PST via Twitch. The charitable live-stream will benefit artists who’ve been impacted by COVID-19 and provide relief funds.Ā Gene Farris, John Summit, Gawp and NakadiaĀ are a few of the artists scheduled to play. The virtual event partners include PLUS1, Arcade Fire’s charity, and its COVID-19 relief fund. The funds raised will go towards medical expenses, lodging, clothing, food, and other vital living expenses to those impacted due to sickness or loss of work.

PLUS1 is working with leading non-profit organizations Sweet Relief, Centre for Disaster Philanthropy, World Central Kitchen, Partners In Health, Trans Lifeline, and several local organizations around the country to provide immediate assistance. Originally established in 2010, the charity supported Haiti’s recovery efforts during its earthquake of that year. Arcade Fire soon realized the power behind their community and decided to build on its successful charitable efforts. Now as the world faces a pandemic due to COVID-19 , Dance From Home calls upon the music community to join efforts and support those heavily impacted.

It’s looking like another strong year for Canadian-born DJ and producer Sydney Blu who, on top of her non-stop stream of signature Blu parties, also performed at Treehouse Miami during Miami Music Week’s 7th year, while also gearing up for the Toronto edition at CODA nightclub on Friday, April 7.
Later this week, on April 28th, Sydney Blu partners up with Gene Farris’ Chicago-based label, Farris Wheel Recordings, for the release of her You Know How it Goes EP. A Chicago staple underscoring the new wave of house and tech house to come out from the Midwest metropolis, Farris Wheel Recordings is known for spinning out new, promising talent from both the city that gave birth to house and around the globe.
